... but ... the facsimiles published as canon in the Pearl of Great Price link the surviving fragments directly to the BoA. Mormonism has trapped itself in the cage of its own fixation on historicity and scriptural literalism.

@@KTPurdy doesnt the book describe in text what the facsimile illustrates? Abraham being sacrificed? Am I missing something because that seems like a smoking gun to me, a direct connection.

@@tb8865 It totally it for two reasons. The facsimiles tie the concretely wrong interpretation to specific hieroglyphs that we can all see, and it disproves the missing scroll theory.

You should listen to an interview recently done with Dr Robert Ritner who Dr Gee was a student of in egyptology. It shatters the Book of Abraham as an ancient script.

What a novelty even with all the evidence that there is of the bible experts "the most intelligent" men on earth believe that God does not exist and we are supposed to accept everything that these guys who think they know everything say (Dr Robert Ritner ) simply what they say is what they believe and everyone has the right to believe whatever they want

1/2 the members don’t care about the historicity of the Pearl of Great a Price. Also, why as a member wouldn’t I believe the papyri that is shown in the PofGP in the facsimiles and then referred to in the canon. The laughs in the audience during this presentation are from those in the great and spacious building.

If I was an LDS member and knew not much about this subject which are most, I would only catch the jist that as usuall people are hating on the prophet. Then I’d recite the LDS mantra...TRUE!! TRUE!!
