Haven't finished yet watching yet but referring to your plant ~ it's a good thing the water is running through! You should ideally have a pot with holes so anytime you water, you basically drown it until the excess water is flowing out the bottom, this way you don't water every single day! Watering a little everyday is known as overwatering, which is soso bad. So that really good soaking when the soil is mostly dry is whatcha want! Hope this makes sense 🖤

yes!! that's what i normally do, water it until it starts draining, and then wait until the soil is dry on the top inch before rewatering. the problem was, is that, even when the soil was completely dry, as soon as i started watering, it would be leaking out the bottom!! so i was worried the soil wasn't retaining any of the water D:

I like the advice of using a reference of a reference. I end up in the trap trying to draw the figure realistically, which in not great at hyper realism, but also lacking any artistic style and touch. I will try that in my sketchbooks! 💕

For the most part you want water to seep right through the soil of house plants. It’s good to get the roots nice and soaked through and leave the pot so it doesn’t sit in water and cause root rot. ❤️

There is something about the way you sketch that I love so much. It kinda reminds me about painting where if you make a few strokes here and there you can give it the illusion of objects and stuff. I'm not sure if that makes sense but just the way you put pen marks on the paper to make it look like a shirt collar or shirt folds and how you so easily make lines and proportion out body parts that dont make the characters look funny or whatever makes me so envious of your style and work.

Let the soil dry through before the next watering. Then when you water, make sure you water until you see water drain out a little. Wait for all the water to drain then you are all set. Never let the roots sit in water and your plants should thrive :) Good luck!!!

yes, that’s what i was doing before!! but then when the soil got dry and i would water, the water would immediately drain out the bottom so i worried it wasn’t retaining all the water as it should..i’ll keep an eye on it and watering it as you said 👍🏻

so i connect my ipad to my macbook, i open up Quicktime with “new movie recording” and use that to capture my ipad screen! and then in OBS Streamlabs, i use Display Capture to capture the specific Quicktime window for stream. :D

One of the videos I found you with was a sketchbook tour of yours where you mentioned you wanted to be able to capture expression and sort of more animated poses better, and it's really coming through in this spread, so I'm glad you've noticed that as a positive too. On tea chat, my housemate did a 'fancy tea' order recently and I got myself some 'strawberry and watermelon instant tea' and some 'bannofee pie hot chocolate' so I am super excited to try those! eeeeeeeee it's always a delight to draw along with you. I love listening to you talk about art and how you draw and how you feel about drawing. For your plant, is there a non-soil thing at the bottom of your pot? Like rocks, or mulch? It weighs the pot down and also gives the water somewhere to go for runoff. Idk if that might be the issue you're having, but maybe it would help?

@@cheyennebarton it's perfectly normal for water to seep out at the bottom! You want good irrigation. Like Aurora said, you put rocks at the bottom to help irrigation and to prevent the soil from running out too much with the water. When you water the plant, you just gotta be careful to toss the extra water in the dish so the plant doesn't drown. (You might need a bigger dish).

I have loved watching your art progress its so nice :) One thing I might suggest is working on drawing bigger figures? Like beefy people, fat people, small and stout, big and tall, etc. I see that you draw them occasionally but I'd love to see them in your art style more. Sorry if I'm stepping out of line also by saying this! I know you are working on a lot of different things and you can only do so much at once. Just a suggestion nonetheless!
