Ok now I know autism is no joke and a lot of people have this condition, but he portrays it like I can't explain it, it makes me feel some sort of way I want to be like him....also a genius.
@Renee128017 жыл бұрын
If you meet someone with autism... just be peaceful and watch. Don't stare. But just quietly pay attention. You'll get to know them. And.... tbh that wanting to be like him? That's why so many (most) people with autism have zero desire for a cure. We know we are valuable and caring and deep and ... I love being autistic. Would never want to change it. It's ok to see value in us and want to be us. But.... then go back to valuing yourself because you're all pretty awesome too, you normal folks.
@animalpack46227 жыл бұрын
As a person with autism, I can tell you that it can be difficult. It's difficult to so far behind yet so far ahead. I'm in 3 AP classes and I sometimes find it hard to keep up and at other times I'm so far ahead I need to slow down. It can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. I get frustrated with myself when I slip up, I get overwhelmed so easily and I'm socially awkward. Everyday is a struggle to be just like everyone else and it's scary to think about what would happen if I lose that fight. Everyday I fight to win and I try to be like everyone else, but in the end, I have my struggles and my differences. At the end of everyday, I learn that it's ok to be so different, but sometimes I have to be like everyone else. It's so confusing and sometimes I end up floating around until someone or something gives me the courage to fight the current. I think and act differently and like I said before, it can be both a curse or a blessing. You get what I mean?

Thank you. I don't know if I'm a genius but I do have autism and I'm like Shaun in many ways...no one has ever said they want to be like me before. I feel I have to hide my autism most of the time; like I was born into a world that didn't want my mind. Thank you.
@animalpack46227 жыл бұрын
You don't have to hide your autism. If you treat it like the bane of your existence, it WILL be the bane of your existence. If you treat it like a gift, it WILL be like a gift. Not being a savant or a genius doesn't make you any less special that what you really are. I know it's difficult to be so different and limited, but I always tell myself that I can do anything. Look at Temple Grandin. She found a way to use her autism as a tool for her work. Same with Shaun. Remember that you can do anything. If you can, you can turn your disability into an ability

Actually, Shuan feeding the cat means that he and Lia will run into each other again in the future. Lia gave an advice to him "Feed it once, it will never leave you alone", and while she was giving this advice to him, he gives the batteries to her. Which means she won't leave him alone, like the cat. He eventually feeds the cat(which means he wants a relationship with her), then the scene changes to a fleshback of the hospital director feeding Shuan Waffles. After this scene Shuan and him eats lunch together(just like Shuan feeding the cat). So in my opinion, what this scene is trying to say is, sometimes someone who is important in your life just nocks on your door and comes into your life unexpected like that.

I'm never one big to interpret symbolism, but I was wondering if at 4:09 the setup of that shot was intended for Glassman's face to be in shadow as his career draws to an end, but Sean is just starting to shine. Whether that was the intention or not, this show has such powerful and inspiring scenes. Bravo to the cast and writers.

Sometimes it is just a figure of speech. For example : " Can I borrow your husband for a moment ? ". It goes without saying that the person asking that question does not mean it literally UNLESS , of course, she indeed has designs on the said husband. If that was the case, though, she would not make her intensions known.

I have only just started watching this. I work at a hospital in Perth Australia in my previous employment I worked at a special needs school in Sydney Australia and a multi disability school in Auckland New Zealand and a teacher assistant. Working mainly autistic teens and adults with high functioning Autism and with ASD. The actor playing the character of Dr Murphy I love how he thinks and communicates very bright. In the scene where he confronts the armed robber and places his hands over his head and paces back and forth im not sure if he was in a rocking motion while pacing around with his hand over his ears...well this a true reaction caused by an overload in being requested for multiple requests more than a person with autism can process at one time. So hands on ears and pacing is a real reaction to stress.
