“Body neutrality” helped me detach my worth to my looks especially as a woman. I saw a TikTok that said, ”If my face got ruined by a fire, what would my self worth be rooted in?” We are way more than our bodies, in fact, it’s our souls that make us special. So no matter how negatively or positively you feel about your body, you are worthy and good. When I exercise, I practice telling myself I’m doing it for my health, not appearance. Also, you articulate your thoughts so well even when you’re speaking off the top of your head…I’ve been overthinking and rewriting this simple post for 8 minutes 😭 Loved the video ❤️

Plus when you realize what a distraction it is? Like why am I wasting my energy being insecure, when it literally doesn't matter to the way I feel? I mean it feels so nice to take care of myself and to hype myself up -- but that's where it ends. Anything more is actually harming me and defeating the purpose, which is to be happy 😇

@@NYKIRA For me, It helped me align with my highest self. I had to talk to 80 year old me a lot in that period to make sure I was loving and understanding of myself when I looked visually "unappealing" in the eyes of society. Since then I KNOW I will age with grace and beauty, the type that transcends societies image of that. Sounds corny, but it's true.

Honestly it is SO refreshing to hear somebody aknowledge that physical changes CAN make a difference. I got a nose job in high school (I was very ashamed and secretive about it because of all the taboo) and not only did it do absolute wonders for my confidence, but it had a very tangible and significant effect on my life too. Whether we want to acknowledge it or not, pretty privilege exists and physical changes can have a positive impact!! “You just have to love yourself” sounds great in theory but I don’t think it’s realistic for everyone in the society we live in to just think their way out of all their insecurities. 100% believe if you have the resources to do so and are smart about it, physical changes can be great. Anyway, rant over, loved this video!!

I'm ok with what I'm not ok with about my body. If it can be changed I'm going to change it when I can (it's literally one thing). And if not, it is what it is. I'm not influenced by plastic surgery trends because I know something else will be trending in a few years. Even now I'm seeing youtube videos saying that Bbls are "out".
@powersxoxo64372 жыл бұрын
I honestly think instagram culture and media have been detrimental to our mental health and feelings of self worth. Everything being focused on beauty, outward appearance, and material items has caused us to lose focus on what truly matters. Channels like yours are so healthy and really puts everything into perspective. The only lasting relationships and enjoyable moments in life were felt because they enriched our souls, not ego. 💖 if we’ve cultivated a life centered around looks/outer beauty/materials, we would only attract superficial people and energy, and this typically ends in intense unfulfilling experience/emptiness. Such an important conversation. Thank you for sharing💖

"Its okay to have things about yourself that you wanna change" 👏🏻 this right here is such a rare statement you find on youtube if you watch videos on the whole "loving and accepting yourself" thing. Literally almost all the lifestyle ytbers keep addressing accepting yourself by completely believing that you should just.... Put the negative aspects of your body out of your mind, like dude that's not possible. Its so nice to see a realistic youtuber out here when everyone is talking about the so-called self love. 💞💞

thank you so much for this video lynette. i’ve struggled a lot with my confidence for years, and it’s improved over time, however i still have a bad relationship with my body/food/exercise. social media says we should love and accept every part of our bodies and not give in to societal expectations (and majority of the time, it’s the “perfect” people saying this 🤣), which i think is a really beautiful mantra, but like you said, it’s not realistic. i’ve felt GUILTY wanting to change things about my body because i felt like i should accept myself as i am, so much to the point that it’s made me skeptical of going to the gym regularly and trying to improve my eating habits. thank you for telling me it was okay to be where i’m at. ❤️

Love your content and this video, your voice is so soothing and you give great advice. My makeup tips: as someone who has loved makeup for 10 years, if you feel like your face looks cakey, try using a hydrating primer or a good moisturizer before your face products! Also finding a setting powder you like that blurs the skin (I love the Laura mercier) helps a lot, and try using a damp sponge to blend!

3 years ago I went from perfect skin to post pill severe acne. I realised then that my confidence was an illusion and entirely reliant on my appearance. It was at that time that I was also following an excessive amount of IG accounts of women who I thought I "appreciated" their beauty and style, but really I was comparing myself and it was feeding into an insecurity that I wasn't completely conscious of. Although it's been an emotional journey, that I'm still on, its been incredible for me in becoming more conscious and intentional about building my self-esteem, confidence, and making healthy lifestyle choices for myself. As well as separating this idea of my worth being based on my physical appearance because let's face it, no amount of skincare is going to stop the ageing process! Beautiful video.

I feel like this came with perfect timing because I have been struggling with my self-image lately. Like I know I'm pretty, but sometimes I (feel like) I'm not. My natural hair Is something that makes me insecure sometimes, and I've also been feeling self-conscious about my weight as well lately. So It's just so many things, that I struggle with these days, and then you came out with a video exactly about this topic and it's just a reminder that I'm not the only one who is dealing with their insecurities lately. I'm working on accepting myself a little bit more each day, There's always something new I learn to accept and love about myself each day.

Love your content!! Thank you for this one!! A few makeup tips I can give is 1- prep your skin before application. A good moisturizer and primer / setting spray 2- set your makeup with setting spray when you’re done 3- always blend your eyeshadow really well, it makes the biggest difference 4- lipliner is a must! Use with gloss or lipstick. It makes a huge difference ❤️ xx

I've completely changed my skin and body over the last few years, and in changing your appearance, I think the #1 factor for results is really just 'feeling good'. Get up in the morning, wash your face, explore and land on a skincare routine that makes you feel good in the process; the texture, packaging, affordability, everything. Also, pushing through exercise you find boring and unbearable will probably not give you the fastest results. You need to find one that's fun for you. In this way, everything comes down to feeling good in the process.

i felt you with the skin insecurity. i am dealing with adult acne, never had acne growing up, and i just had to break down and get some topical medication. idk why i was so against it… i kept thinking i could heal it on my own bc i didn’t want to become reliant on the meds. i feel so much better now that my skin has improved greatly!

My self talk has been so terrible the last few years. I constantly beat myself up about my weight. I lost 50 lbs but gained it all back after about 5 years and now I’m starting over from nothing. It’s so discouraging because I feel like I failed myself. I notice that on the days I’m nice to myself, I do much better on my diet and workouts. I don’t do it out of self hatred but instead out of self love. I am motivated to make the changes that I need to make, but I’m also going to love myself in the process! ❤️

I do think true beauty comes from with in. But I also get what you are saying about skin or something else that looks different then the standard. I think most people have something beautiful whether it is something from the outside or inside. What really helps me out is to be as friendly and kind as possible to people you come across with. Being loving to people helps to love yourself. Like you were saying if people are negative around you sometimes the most loving thing is to cut ties with them. It’s loving towards yourself and them to because negativity is not good for anybody ❤️. Love your content, great video!
