Hi Roy, thanks for the recommendations 👌 you can say Biopic either way…it’s all good 👌 I went to school with a kid called Steve Oram…unfortunately not the same guy though 😆 Steve was in The Worlds end too..he was the motorcycle police officer. The Swimmer was earmarked for the HMV Premium collection at one point but the lost the rights. Nice one mate, take care👍😃👍

The only titles cited here I'd heard of are 'Big Eyes', 'The Swimmer', and 'Mildred Pierce', with the last two the only ones I've seen (both on cable television). 'Mildred Pierce' is good campy fun, showcasing what may well be Joan Crawford's most distinctive role, while 'The Swimmer' is an intriguing and haunting picture, mysterious and situated somewhere between fantasy and psychodrama. It's based on a 1964 short story by John Cheever, which I've not read, but I understand the film follows the story's narrative fairly faithfully. I believe this was the only serious role the late Joan Rivers ever played in the movies. For neglected, overlooked cinematic gems, one of the first titles that comes to my mind is 'Some Call It Loving', from 1973, written and directed by James B. Harris, starring Zalman King, Tisa Farrow (Mia Farrow's younger sister), and featuring Richard Pryor in an offbeat supporting role. This is a strange, beguiling film that truly defies categorization, having elements of fantasy, psychological drama, erotic thriller, and eccentric comedy all mixed together, but never coalescing into any specific genre. It's a film that deliberately evokes the liminal state between waking and dreaming, and is ideal for late-night viewing.

Some of my favourite lesser-known films are:- Let it Ride (1989), Disorganized Crime (1989), The Big Steal (1990), Malcolm (1986), Caged (1950) and The Devil Doll (1936). Also worth checking are:- Dr Cyclops (1940), The Quick and the Dead (1995) and Gun Crazy (1949).

A good mixed selection, Roy. I wasn’t overkeen on Sightseers nor Queen & Slim but it’s been a while and I should rewatch. I adore The Swimmer. Mildred Pierce great too. Too Late For Tears, a bit daft but it really zips along and love Lizabeth Scott. I’d like to see The Incident and I remember Champion being released in cinemas (and the story of Bob and Aldaniti) but don’t think I’ve ever actually seen it. Great video

Thanks Neil I really do recommend The Incident. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. It's a shame as streaming takes over and these films theoretically should be easier to watch in fact the opposite is true and more and more stuff is delisted.

I actually picked up Queen and Slim on Blu-Ray in Fopp in Edinburgh - James will know where that is! Yet to watch it though but I’ll get round to it. One I always enjoy is Awakenings from 1990 starring Robin Williams and Robert De Niro. Easier to get on DVD, because the Blu-Ray is rare.
