don't know if any1 looks here anymore but I have a question: I'm doing beginner's course on justinguitar.com and I am able to follow the simple strumming presented in starting part of the video, but is it bad that I'm not catching immidiately the "harder" strumming? I kept struggling with it all day (now it's better but really slow).

Yes, as heard in the recording, in F sharp. He uses a capo to bring the guitar up a whole step to make the song easier to play. Otherwise, if you’re playing in F sharp in standard tuning you’d be using several barre chords, which can be tricky to play as a beginner. The chords he’s calling out are the fingerings you’d use in standard tuning, it’s just that the capo has “moved” the nut (that white part that separates the headstock from the fretboard and holds the strings in place) down to the second fret and shortens the vibrating portion of the strings, raising the pitch by a whole step. (The distance between E and F sharp is one whole step.) TL;DR: He’s playing the chord progression in E, but the capo raises the pitch of the guitar up to sound like F sharp. If you’re still confused, try humming the melody of this song in the key of E major and the chord progression played in E will fit right in.
