One that I remember vividly is right after you do the Gold Bauble Swap (already a stand out moment for a bit of dialogue novelty to see from the other side after the moment at the start of the game), your kids will notice the hero looks visibly shaken after the sequence, revisiting not just his childhood briefly, but also the last time he saw his Father alive and well. There are a LOT of gut punching bits of flavor text in this game: After the first timeskip, looking into a mirror can give a note about the player hero trying to imagine his father's face while looking at his reflection, as if he can barely recall it with how young he was when everything went south.

If Johnny ever reads this: The party talk command gets even more obnxiously needed to be used in Dragon Quest 6.. because some characters join you, even late into the narrative, and basically dont add anything because there is way to little to do for them and that way you would need to party talk to experience their thoughts and feelings afterwards, like one optional character towards the end HIGHLY evolves through party talk when in contrast that character doesnt have any line in the original DQ6. There is only half the cast that gets some characterization in DQ6 because of how 1:1 this game feels, including its levelsystem which, imo even back then, was tedious and slow for all the wrong reasons and the fact that no numbers required for the next level up in there was adjusted for rereleased is just maddening and unnecessary. If those issues wouldnt exist and the game being overly cryptic about what to do next, then DQ6 would be much more positively recognized by those who played it. And some of my favorite characters come from this game, all because of how fleshed out that got through said party talk, so its a darn shame that the rest of the game doesnt treat the characters with respect that way :/

lol, probably not. Generally, the 'point' of those combos is to have one of them be important, and the other be the character who they can talk to so the audience can learn more about them (Nappa/Vegeta, like, Babidi/Dabura, Beerus/Whis). Which I guess you could say could apply for a silent protagonist, but his dad isn't the only speaking party member who does the reacting for the player. I like this sort of impressionary take to the Johnny Vs formula. I can't quite put my finger on why but this video feels a little different to the other recent ones. It's charming Also little asside: I can't believe I forgot there was a boss in this game called King Krool.
@lukaabramovic32273 жыл бұрын
His name is actually King Korol, which is funny in its own right, since Korol means King in russian, so his name is basically King King
@papershadow3 жыл бұрын
@@lukaabramovic3227 That's the theme naming for the Order of Zugzwang in general. I believe Grand Master Nimzo is named for a (Russian) Chess champion player, and the Minions are named for their piece in English and Russian (King Korol, Bishop Ladja, etc) The order itself I believe is even named for a Chess reference. Zugzwang refers to a situation where a player must make a move that will put them at a disadvantage (to the point that not moving would be optimal if allowed)
@lukaabramovic32273 жыл бұрын
@@papershadow That's true. Although bishop ladja and slon the rook got their names mixed up. Ladja (ладья) is the russian name for rook and slon (слон) is bishop.

I've recently started collecting DS games as it was a big part of my childhood and maybe even my favourite system ever, and this was one of the first games on my list to get. Too bad this is one of the hardest DS games to get because it's so rare and expensive. I had to settle for IV and IX instead, which are still pretty good though.

There's a big amount of great DS games that unfortunately sold rather poorly, meaning it's pretty hard to find copies for reasonable prices. In fact, i have several DS games that have gone up in price since i bought them.

I got REALLY lucky finding the game Used when I was in High School. I think it was on a Used shelf with IV (which is significantly less rare on DS), so I had no real way to know its rarity Really glad I got it, as it's one of my favorite JRPGs of all time, and also prompted me to grab DQ6 when new (which I've heard is becoming similarly hard to find now).

Wow, Johnny is starting on my favorite game in the series! 😊 Welcome to DQ my man and I ain't talmbout dairy queen. A lot of the things you criticize by the way, are actually series staples. These things do improve overall, however get used to some things being here to stay, including saving at churches (which beats only being able to save by talking to local kings) and late game difficulty ramp ups. But still you are now in the world of JRPG comfort food. I wish you happiness and luck with your Dragon Quest experience 💖😁

Debora is best DQV Waifu. Also, can I gush for a bit? I absolutely love Pankraz's death in this game. In the first battle against Ladja's subordinates, he completly wipes the floor with them, showing how strong he is on the offense (mind you, one of these enemies is a mid-game boss while the other is a late-game boss). Then, in the second fight where Pankraz is forced to lose, it does not become a curb-stomp battle for the two bosses. It takes them multiple turns to actually put down Pankraz. This shows that Pankraz is, well, not a glass cannon, and could go through multiple battles with no sweat. He is both strong on the offensive AND the defensive. Those two moments help give Pankraz a very awesome way to go, by showing just how strong and overpowered he actually is. It one of my favorite moments in the game. Another moment I like is during the dance at the end of the game. If you married Nera or Bianca, your character is the one leading the dance. However, if you married Debora, SHE'S the one leading the dance, twirling you around while the other dancers twirls their female partner. A very funny way of showing who is actually wearing the pants in this relationship.
