Your video's title is misleading. You should put Final Fantasy VIII Remaster instead of Final Fantasy VIII. A lot of your complaints only apply to the remster and not the original PS1 version. The remaster backgrounds are blurry, but the ps1 version's backgrounds weren't blurry at all if you play on a CRTV (the type of TV that was around when ps1 was around). The backgrounds are gorgeous on the PS1 version, plus the character models art style were less anime on the PS1 version and looked better because of it. They look dead-eyed like dolls in the remaster. Also analog controls did actually work on the PS1 version, not that 8 point crap of the remaster.

You dont have to grind battles or play any triple triad to get through the game. Just play it like a normal final fantasy. Don't worry about having 100 charges of each spell. The game is really fun this way and it feels natural. Also, it's fun to not feel precious about conserving magic to a point where you don't cast it in battle. So what if it causes your stat to go down if u just use a couple units of a magic? It'll only make the game more interesting. 30 to 80 or so units of each spell is usually plenty depending on which spell, but 100 units is so unnecessary. So drawing is something you should only occasionally do. Plus, this strategy keeps the battles more interesting and fun, and makes regular boss battles often intense

To me the stupidest argument for draw being a grindest is that jrgps are notorious for mind numbingly tons of battles. It's the reason why I got pissed with ff9 after playing ff8, because the random encounters pissed me off. FF8 even without enc none had the least amount of random encounter rate precisely because magic drawing was mostly a one and done process. You get the 100s of the spells you junction and for those you cast like double or shell you just draw as you need. The enemies also drop items that can be refined so you can just fight a few for drops and be done that way. If there is truly a game breaking element to ff8 system, it's not cards, but rather item refinement system.

I believe she was going to be a merchant at first before being changed to Chris’s partner when capcom wanted to emphasize the coop feature
