My 20-something cousin got me into JRPGs (FF4, specifically) when I was 8, and another one of my older cousins gave me his collection of pirated Commodore 64 games the next year. @@EclipsisTenebris Yeah, it's actually pretty easy. It's only "hard" because you tend to not do as many random encounters since encounters in the NES version are so slow compared to the remakes. Hell I even managed to nab the GBA versions of FFIV and FFVI some years ago, and I think it's about time I gave the series a proper shot. Thanks for talking about all these games so passionately in your videos, you really are helping people like me open up their minds and try new games out.

Europe's first ever Final Fantasy. Actually more insulting than giving us nothing.

At least the second FF that Europe got was better(not that its hard to be better)

I disagree! It's really not that bad of a game if you actually give it a chance. Sure it's easy to rag on it for it's simplicity, but it's still an enjoyable experience overall

There are chocobos in Mystic Quest. Sort of. They are part of the windmills in Windia

It's kinda odd that in the pal version it's called Mystic Quest Legends.
@jacobmonks37223 жыл бұрын
That's because Mystic Quest already existed in Europe since that was the localized name for the first Seiken Densetsu (Mana) game on the Gameboy. In America it was called Final Fantasy Adventure, likely so that the FF name would make it sell better. Not sure if that worked or not, but it's actually a pretty good Gameboy game. If you like 2D Zelda, I'd say give it a try.
@SilverHairedFreak253 жыл бұрын
@@jacobmonks3722 Actually, unlike the first three SaGa games, the first Mana game WAS a Final Fantasy spinoff. There's plenty of FF iconography in the game (Moogles appear as a status condition, and you get a Chocobo buddy who later gets robot legs which allow it to cross water). And the Japanese name was even _Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden._ Later games in the series just moved away from it, and the remake severed its ties completely.

@@SilverHairedFreak25 I forgot that you could ride chocobo in SD1. But I am glad the Mana series became more its own thing. It's a very overlooked Square franchise.

Blazing through 4 rpgs (five if you count mystic quest I guess) and then writing a comprehensive review and plot summary has to be tough. Hope the break to do other videos and reviews treats you well and you come back to this series refreshed, pumped, and excited to continue, Johnny! I often dread watching Final Fantasy 8 reviews on youtube because it's my personal favorite, but you're one of my favorite personalities on this site, and I'm certain you'll give an honest and unique view to the game even if we don't share an equal level of appreciation for that specific Final Fantasy. Can't wait to see what comes next in the meantime!
