I have original Zippo lighter with original Lucky Strike box but with a fake Lucky Strike logo. Someone engraved the logo on standard brushed chrome Zippo lighter.

Good Afternoon Jon. That was really interesting. I personally wouldnt buy a known fake item , but they are out there and giving collectors a few pointers to what to look out for is great. Keep them coming!!

I have a couple of fakes. For reference purposes. I felt I needed them more in the past when my Zippo game wasn't as strong. Nowadays I have a small pile of Zippo clones/knockoffs with their original boxes. I'll probably post the collection eventually, it's actually pretty interesting to see the evolution of even some of these knockoffs, from being almost a straight copy to then evolving the design a little so as not to get in trouble with Zippo. All were fly-by-night companies long since lost with the passage of Time.

Those fakes are rather easy to identify. But the sort of fakes that closely resemble the original that look almost exactly as the original is what makes me really scared when buying. When you really have to grab a microscope. As it is, I recently was delivered a Zippo with Chinese paperwork. Just because it's got a Chinese paperwork doesn't mean it's fake. The gift box and the Zippo itself look authentic but the Chinese paperwork still left me upset and uncomfortable that's why I just respectfully returned it to the seller. When you google "Zippo Chinese Paperwork", the topic of fake Zippos springs up in the results.

Some nice fakes.I love how they hand engrave the inserts. I would by a fake Zippo. I have a fake Vietnam one that I just had to get when I saw it lol.

I would not buy a fake Zippo because of I went out to buy a Zippo it should be a Zippo Their is nothing wrong with cheap clones and knockoffs provided they are not pretending to be a Zippo with all the markings And branding people by knockoffs and clones because they are more affordable than the real thing while at the same time having a lighter that looks like a Zippo
