I never tire of this rendition and always flash back to better times of joyful/calm nightclubs, easy laughter and a dressy clientele. Miss those days... Outstanding rendering, Mr. Edis.

The phrasing and tempo of this rendition is very good. It elicits just the right amount of tension and anticipation, followed by just the right amount of repose. Admirable also is what it leaves out: frills, excess, maudlin sentiment, misguided punctuation, showiness, clueless bravura. Artful.

What strikes me the most in this video, besides your superb playing and interpretation, is the awesome sound of the piano. It looks like an upright piano, bur you really achieved to make it sound like a full concert grand. 5 stars for the sound man and for the pianist

It's an interesting lyric. I've always love the song, of course, but after a lifetime of working with students to understand poetry, I thought about the lyrics of the song one day. It's about a promiscuous young woman who wants to be saved from herself. She's "lost in the woods," but she could "always be good" (implying that she isn't now) if someone she "needs" (..oh how I need) could "watch over" her. You can call me out on this, but these songs were not written in an atmosphere of the illusion of romantic virtue and Ira Gershwin was a worldly fellow. Double entendres were the order of the day! And it doesn't make the song any less beautiful: On the contrary!

Because I can't play piano at all
@ChimneySwiftFan8 жыл бұрын
all you have to do is practice. If you don't know how to play right now it will be harder, but it's still doable. I've been playing for 11 years and I've enjoyed every second of it. Being able to do this kind of thing gives me a great feeling. If piano is something you want to try, then try. And stick with it. You won't regret it.
