How does this video and channel have not as much attention as others? This is one of the best mall videos I've seen, with the music choices, commentary, and scenery

Wow thanks. Yeah I can’t figure out the secret to become successful at making videos. Thanks for the support. Enjoy all my other videos and if that’s not enough there is member only content on my Patreon. 😊

I grew up in the area as well, I even worked at Abercrombie in 98-99 and met the guys from *NSYNC when they were on tour and suddenly the store was flooded with teenage girls losing their minds. I didn’t even know who they were but I ended up helping them and ringing them up just because I happened to be in the area they were shopping in. I also fondly remember the Sony store because I was and still am a huge Sony fanboy. Some of the other things I remember where the dual polo shops on the 2nd level, polo sport and the traditional polo ralph Lauren. The mall was always the best during the Holidays when there were so many shoppers and so much money being spent. The 90’s were definitely a unique time for metro Detroit.

Wow that’s cool. Yeah we share much of the same memories. Always good to hear from another Detroit homie. 😊

Thank you for the tour of my baby...I was the lead designer at JPRA for this project. Brings back some great memories...I loved also working with Ron Rea/Dave Peterhans on the food court...my favorite Detroit Designers. FYI, Somerset was inspired by The Cranbrook Community over on Woodward. You'll see alot of Saarinen influences...I am part Finnish and was always a big fan. Saarinen's office used to be on Long Lake/Woodward.

My uncle was headmaster at cran room for a short time. I absolutely love Woodward and all it’s iconic places. So cool to get a comment from someone who was a part of building SOMERSET

Another bit of trivia, back in 1996 the bridge had the world’s record for longest stretch of moving sidewalk & pedestrian bridge.

I always joke that when it comes to Somerset that you can literally physically see the wealth gap when you take the sky bridge lol.

The Gardens Mall looks similar due to the grand court and The developer of Somerset also developed The Gardens Mall
