We are a family of 6 living life in North Pole, Alaska! Where Santa Claus House is right down the street! We love spending time together as a family, having fun, learning through homeschooling, growing in our faith, and building our forever home! Fairbanks and North Pole are at its most beautiful just before Winter. But this time of the year was the most hectic to get ready for the first snowfall. I'm very happy to hear the Surgery went well.

We have to get the garden totally put to bed as well. Make sure to clear our lagoon of bird planted trees and any under brush before it's too cold to do so. Finally, we need to go through the barn to make room for tools, and organization ( we have stuff from my parents house, and my sister's house to go through since they passed away a while back).

We live in a house in Alberta built in the 60's with original windows, so we're racing the clock with new weather stripping and some touch-ups for this year. New windows are just SO expensive. Some day 😊

The only thing we *have to get done before the cold comes, is to get the chicken coop and garden space winterized. Basically just cleaned out good and added pine shavings for the birds and mulch the garden. But we still have a good month before we run out of time. 😊

I live in the desert. We don't have a next season. Last Saturday it was 117. Sunday 113. And the extreme heat advisory goes through the weekend. Then another week or so of 100+ degree days. :) I love the Valley of the Sun!

I'm ready for some frost. I live in Reno and we were in the 90's the first of the week, in the 80's now so temps dropping thankfully. I realize we are NOT Alaska but I'm ready for some warm jammies and a quilt. Summer was miserable. The only GOOD thing is I got an extra crop of Spinach and Lettuce and the tomatoes are still hobbling along. Glad your mom is going well. Crossing my fingers for you on completing what needs to be done before the hard freeze.

My son and his family came yesterday to get my house all ready for winter. They got it done PTL. They dropped ve 15 hours to get here and sadly they have to leave this am to go back home. It is a 15 hour drive. So thankful for them. God Bless you🌹😄

I'm super excited about new Alaskan Apparel. I'd love a more understandable/clear size chart. I'm a US Unisex XL, or size 18 - generally either a 1x or 2x in women's, depending on how they are sized. I know average American women are about a size, maybe 2 smaller at 14-16. I love your stuff and want to support you. Just need to make sure it will fit. I am on a weightloss journey, but it is slow.

I never dreaded nor disliked winter during my 14 years in Fairbanks. Yes, -40 and colder was very inconvenient at times, but I actually enjoyed it. Call me crazy I guess. The key is being prepared.

Yes I had a cabin shell built trying to beat the cold getting insulation up 70s during the day but 20s and 30s at night and sleeping in the cabin little heat I am at 4300 feet above sea level so weather like North Pole can change in an instant burr had doctor appt this morning got up at 6:30 it was 31° very cold getting dressed the dogs wouldn't even get up to go out side lol I had no choice hour and half drive to doctor office be like driving from Tanana to east Fairbanks to go to doctor pray I can get up there next spring to North Pole to work on my house up there.

I would like to come up to Fairbanks in February for a look around. Last year I went to Anchorage in September. But I’m really itching for the winter. Any suggestions on that? One of my concerns is a rental car.
