Never stick your hand down a hole until you know what is down there. That could be extremely dangerous. I agree get a lighted camera down there and explore what is down there. Hey you may just end up with a pond in your field. lol Henry is cute as can be.

Call a plumber and see if you can get them to come out with a sewer camera and feed it down the holes to see if anything is in them.😊 They don't look like something is coming in and out of them. The grass isn't trampled down around them. 🤔. Maybe place a board over each one that is weighed down. Watch to see if any other hole pops up in a day or two. Then you know something is digging them.

When drainage tile starts to collapse, it will often look like this- holes become cave-ins often the old clay drain tile was used in fields. Also I checke and the Dolly Parton book service is nationwide, depending on your area… also in Canada, UK and Ireland! Thank you for the tip on that.

My mom always made fried green tomatoes. She never breaded them. She just sliced them in a regular slice and fried them low and slow in butter, never oil until soft. I have seen others do the egg wash, flour/crumb mix before frying. Mom just used salt a d pepper, i still eat them every year.

The way I have always (and learned) done fried green tomatoes is like the way most of your followers comments stated, sliced (thick) dredged coated. I prefer flour, cornmeal and seasoning mix for the coating but excellent choice to pan fry them, especially in a cast iron pan (deep fried makes them mushy and gross). I also love pickled green tomatoes 😊, I like it basic, just water, apple cider vinegar, sea salt, dill seeds and garlic. You can make it zesty or even spicy depending on your preference. As far as what some of your followers say about not feeding chickens the green tomatoes, I don't know but I would take their advice. We never wasted ours, if they started to turn pinkish before we could get to them, we would just put them on a window sill and let them fully ripen and ate them. May God bless you and protect your family.

Check with your extension agent. You may be on a karst field. Do the existing holes get bigger or do they stay the same? There doesn't seem to be any waste pile around the holes suggesting it's dumping out the bottom. If they get bigger, mark them and watch them; that kind of thing can lead to collapses.

Hey y'all, the night before the first frost here I picked 24 pounds of green tomatoes. This ended the garden for the year. I made a green tomato curry sauce and my wife loved it so I made enuf to fill 9 quart jars so we can have it anytime we cook some meat and make some rice instant supper. Also I canned 9 pints of sliced green tomatoes tomatoes so once a week I can pull one out and use them for making fried green tomatoes. I always start about 20 tomato plants right around the 4th of July or right after so I will get tons of green tomatoes on purpose right up to the first frost.

I also use cornmeal but I find using egg makes the coating too thick for my liking and the taste of the tomatoes gets lost in the crust. I slice my tomatoes and season with salt. I let it sit for a few minutes until they start to release their moisture then I dip them in the seasoned cornmeal. The key is to let the cornmeal sit on the tomatoes until they look a little wet. Then put them in the pan with butter and oil.... The crust stays put every time.

I have Bermuda grass in my garden and I found if you use the woven weed barrier that it does better if you do NOT cover it with mulch. The Bermuda still goes over and under the barrier but it is easier to control when you do not put wood mulch on the plastic. You can catch the Bermuda growth faster when it happens and tries to cross the weed fabric and get it removed because it is easier to move the weed fabric to the side, remove the Bermuda grass and then place the fabric back down. I don't think there is any way to totally keep Bermuda grass out of the garden. Maybe look into ground penetrating radar.

Sean, could you put a go pro on a chain or something and put it down the hole? Or if you are friends with a plumber, maybe he would come over and put his camera in the holes. They are at least the size of a sewer line on a property. Then you could see if it is an animal burrow or a bottomless hole. Your fried green tomatoes look tasty, I have only seen them in slices before but I have never eaten them. Henry in the garden is such a sweet moment to capture. Next year he will be feeding himself out of the garden.😀😀😀 Y'all have a Blessed day and I am really looking forward to see what nana Jana has going on at her place. I've been trying to remember the things she had said way back when she got the property, what she wanted to do but alas this old brain is jus not retrieving it. I'll have to be patient and wait.

@kathrynjones5858
@kathrynjones5858 Жыл бұрын
Please stop sticking your hand in the holes. You dont know what has caused them or what might be exploring them ie snakes, rats, and other animals. I like the ideas of cameras, wildlife office, geologist. I would also suggest getting a 50 foot retractable measuring tape a d feed it in the hole. If it comes back wet, there's water. If it comes back smelling like a skunk. Run. If it is dry, that's information for the consultants. Also before you s tick anything in the hole, stay on your feet, have someone with you a short distance away with some kind of weapon incase something comes out of the hole to protect its home. Do not light anything and stick it in the hole. Incredibly bad idea. Check your area regarding caves. Also think about old wells that may have been attempted in the past and recovered when water was not found. Hope these ideas help.

Those holes are odd and a little creepy.. They don't look like ground animals dug them like gophers because no mounded dirt but maybe? A geologist might need to be consulted. You're right, If they grow bigger they could pose a danger to Henry. I hope you can learn what is causing them.

Sean those holes dont seem to have been caused by critters as you have no spoil around the hole. Is there any evidence that you had at one time a big tree whose stump/roots have rotted out (looking for a depression). As the holes are close togeather see if you can join two of them up and dig a bit deeper. Maybe a camera that the drain men use or a car mechanics night help you. Thanks for posting
