Why don't you get a barrel pump and then you can connect a hose pipe to it. It really works well.

I know a guy in Rutledge that sells the blue, food-grade barrels for $10. Cheapest price I have found and he's a good guy. You just need to pick them up.

🇦🇺Why not buy rain water tanks? 1000 gallon or 10,000 gallon tanks. Yes expensive, but it will pay for itself in a rain event or a drought. Why play with tonka trucks when you can play with big boy toys.

A loft space would make the building (what is it for I wonder!) have more options. I've seen loft spaces that don't go all the way across. Love this project!
@DinSFКүн бұрын
Make a loft bed that is not attched to a wall but more like a tall bed. That way you can put the couch under the loft bed. And with a loft bed, you will be able to move it around and also have better air circulation because it's more open. Im concerned if you made a built in loft it will be hard to get a mattress up onto the loft and once you do there won't be much head room and it will be really hard to change the sheets.

. . . a previous commenter suggested Sow the Land for different water storage options. To continue in that vein as a back up possibility- Jason has a portable water catchment tower that doesn’t have quite enough pressure to water his large squash/melon patch. He purchased a small pump that runs on a rechargeable battery of the same sort used in cordless drills. Could be used to power your water uphill from the house to the garden in a pinch. The coat hooks came out great. Sending hugs and blessings.

What a wholesome fun family video! You can paint your white water barrels blue or black. There is relatively cheap paint specifically for that.

Sean, I don't know if you watch Jason on Sow the Land, but he has done several different rain catchment systems, all collecting from the roof as you are planning on doing. Each is a little different, one very expensive because it is a 1,000 gallon holding tank. However, he does have one on the side of a shed that might be just the model you are looking for. It has 2 IBC totes on a platform about waist high tall...connecting the two with PVC pipe and a faucet on the end. You might like to visit that video from his playlist just for inspiration, if you have not already purchased what you thought about using. Just a thought. Love the coat rack you and Holly installed. It is great looking. If I were your dad, I wouldn't put the loft in unless he just wants to use it for storage. It would be way too hot up there and really not enough room for insulation and ceiling boards. That is just me though...it is his cabin. Y'all have a Blessed day.

Instead of 3 rain barrels, see about an IBC tote. 3 Barrels = 165 gallons. 1 IBC Tote = 275 - 330 gallons.

Consider hanging a hook below the one where the backpack was hanging, at kid height so that Henry can come in and learn early to hang up his coat by myself. Right on the floor beside his hook, put a small simple wooden box Henry can sit on to remove his shoes/boots and place his boots underneath -- Henry will feel very grown up and special to have his own spot. It's never to early to have children learn to put their things away so others won't trip. Otherwise, that is a beautiful coat rack.
@mariesheppard3750Күн бұрын
Perfect idea , I still have small lower hooks in my house from when I trained kids, and they each had their own, It works great,

Hi Yeoman Sean. I guess Little Henry is learning how to "Climb the Ladder of Success" early, hmmm ?? Aw, wait a minute, Where's my gratuitous "Lenny the Ham" turkey shot !!! You forgot to give us some "Lenny time!!" A lesson along the "Window parable" I once worked for a man who taught me many lessons. One of them was this: I worked in a bar (A very BIG bar complex) and people in public are pigs and are dirty. And I used to bitch and moan about that. Todd would then sit me down and say this: All that time you spent bitching about the mess, you could have cleaned up that mess in ten minutes (say) and had it done, to the best of your ability. and it would be DONE. Instead, you want to waste time telling me about it, rather than DOING something about the mess !! (isn't that a little counter productive??)

This is true but I certainly sympathize with having to continuously clean up after others who do know better. Nobody in this world should expect maid service.

I think my office was built with that fugly, sterile, LED light you described. I hate it and use lamps with warm LED bulbs. Your dad is correct, there are plenty of warm LED options. Incandescent lighting in that little bunkhouse will heat it up pretty quickly Apr-Oct, so you'd be paying for more electricity to power your lighting and then paying for more electricity to cool it.

Good question. If they have a dependable roosting spot fairly high up (that they don't need to fly to), then they should be okay.
