Today we "EXJW" are more and more numerous to express ourselves. The testimonies come in great numbers and from all parts of the earth. What I missed the most as a child was the unconditional love of my parents. I think this emotional lack destroyed the confidence I should have had in myself. This worship is a real poison that extorts the confidence that one could have in oneself to replace it with confidence in the Watchtower society.

It absolutely angers me to the core that my mother inlaw treats our 13 year old son vs the ones in the religion. He doesn't even call her grandma, its her name. My husband got reinstated after 35 years and kust said hell no!!!! What was i thinking. I've never been a witness and I will never be one. That is a CULT !!

Yes it is. You might 'enjoy' reading my comment to the video which I just typed out. I'll post it here just in case you can't find it. I was disfellowshipped over 28 years ago at the age of 28 for daring to question everything I had been taught as truth since birth. Make no mistake about it, what the Jehovah's Witnesses put their children through during their entire childhood and after if they leave is a form of mind rape. All of it is child abuse based on psychological torture and manipulative coercion based on creating guilt and extreme fear in the mind of the child. It is a form of spiritual rape. It is an absolutely vile experience to live though which I would not wish upon my worst enemy. You cannot as a child identify with yourself at all as a young Jehovah's Witness. You have zero chance of developing your own uniqueness, your own personality, your own life in the Jehovah's Witnesses. It is absolutely hammered into your mind every single day how you must give your entire life, your thoughts, your emotions, your identity and all of your time to the organisation which you are not allowed to question under any circumstances upon pain of an extreme form of punishment of one sort or another which often involves constant, in many cases, daily physical and emotional abuse to keep you completely subservient and obedient to that which you are being taught is Jehovah God's standard as taught through the organisation. Anyone no matter what their age who dares to question the leadership, or the local elders in the kingdom hall where the child is growing up is punished by threats of having privileges taken away, or of being publicly reproved in the kingdom hall, or is subjected to a form of shunning by having association with your peers taken away from you. For the young Jehovah's Witness child growing up in this environment, whilst trying to fit in with people on the outside, for example, at school finds it nigh on impossible to form any kind of a normal relationship with anyone on the outside because deep down inside they know for a fact that they do not fit in at all through no fault of their own. This does create in many instances feelings of extreme isolation which in turn leads to feelings of hopelessness, desperation and constant suicidal thoughts and with no avenue open to talk to anyone on the outside about their feelings the young JW child will in some cases resort to acting out fantasies as they watch their life and identity slip away from them. They know no one will ever understand their feelings, their thoughts, their emotions. It is an absolutely crazy and extremely cruel way to bring up a child. This level of abuse can extend far into adulthood. In some cases the extreme trauma never leaves them. So many years missing, so many huge gaps in their emotional development it becomes for some impossible to bridge the gaps later in life when they attempt to make sense of it all. On the one hand the mind wants to find closure to all of the abuse experienced, to understand the reasoning behind it all but on the other hand to question this topic raises such trauma in the mind of the mind control victim that they simply cannot handle all of the conflicting thoughts. The mind becomes so fractured it retreats into that part of itself where it feels safest where no one or anything can do it harm. What you are left with is a quagmire of unanswered questions with no answers and a life which feels disjointed from reality. What's more, with so little research being carried out into this subject matter and not much in the way of real support on the outside (apart from online support forums and such like) many will continue to suffer for years in silence as they try to piece together those fragments of themselves to at least be able to function somewhat normally in the 'crazy' world around them. I can of course elaborate on this subject at great length but feel if I do so here I might end up writing a book as the reply will be so long as to make it virtually unreadable for those who prefer neat concise answers to all of the issues raised by this topic. Suffice to say, if anyone wants to reach out to me, feel welcome to do so and I will do my best to help you to listen to you, offer support and show you unconditional love, help and support and perhaps most importantly of all, a listening ear.

This doesn't really answer any questions in a straight way or handle any of the fundamentals of the religion accurately. You dont get shunned by family if you decide to leave, that's called being inactive. This applies to people who have been baptized or not. You get shunned or disfellowshipped when you commit a "worldy sin" like having sex with someone who you aren't married to, and ONLY if you arent repentant. People make an active choice to distance themselves from the standards, this is the key part everyone leaves out. It's like being upset you cant smuggle alcohol onto a cruise. These are the rules you get signed up to when you agree to make that a part of your life. Nobody is forced as a kid to sign up, i wasn't for 20 years. I made my decision it wasn't for me, and still deal with these people on a regular basis because they are genuine. Trying to prove witnesses arent a cult is done with the most digestable content its silly to watch. The blind agreement and support for content that contains loose credibility receives should indicate to you that perhaps you too might be in a cult. Check yourself.
