Something Fishy Is Going On In LOUTH!

Spending some time with friends is always nice so after a morning walk we head to Louth for the first time. Let's show you around the wonderful town which boasts the largest spire in England. The day then turned fishy as Dan cannot believe how hard it is to order a fish buttie from a fish & chips shop.

Hi both! Just watched your video with JP visiting Louth. My husband and I live in Mablethorpe and visit Louth regularly - in fact we're going there tomorrow. The chip shop you visited hasn't been open too long. It was a fish and chip before, under different owners, but then it closed for a long period and has re-opened in the last few months. We suggest you try Parkinsons, the fish and chip shop a few doors away from where you went. It's a very well established and highly rated fish and chip shop and it has a small restaurant at the back (walk through the takeaway section to it) where you can try their special fish & chip meal, including mushy peas, bread and butter and tea or coffee, for around £10 each. We'll be doing just that tomorrow when we've finished our shopping!

Dan. The tallest spire in the uk is at Salisbury cathedral but the tallest church spire in the uk is in Louth. Salisbury is 404ft and Louth is 293ft.

Your lifting chair Dan helps the poor people that get stuck in their chair to get up, it doesn’t stay up all the time, haha Jp I see you have had your trim up, it looks good. I remember seeing with those old machine , winding the handle round as you were sewing, I must say they sewed very nice, I used to like winding the bobbin with thread., but yes they were nice machines. Is that the. Tallest spire in England Dan , surprising, you didn’t mention it hehe. Why don’t we have those old greengrocers shops about, things are so fresh. I'm sure I used to know an interesting fact about Louth (not the spire) but I seem to have forgotten it. Can't have been that interesting after all. Looks like a great place actually, always a fan of the backstreets with independent shops in these kind of places. The market place area reminds me of so many different little places around the country. If you think you had trouble getting a fish butty, I've experienced every weirder in the past. I once went into a cafe and the girl behind the counter didn't know what a Full English was. And this was a greasy spoon type place as well. Absolutely bonkers!

Dan and Mazzy, I love Louth - we go there regularly. Next time, deffo go on market day (great bread stall). Go to Lakings ('big butchers'), get their sausages, and their cherry and almond slices - lush! Also, have a gander in "Damselfly" - gorgeous shop that sells local artists' wares. Also, some really good antique shops (The Old Maltings) in Aswell St. In the Summer, you'll love Hubbard's Hills - lovely stream and ideal picnic spot, not far from the church! Psssst.. try 'Mr Chips', also in Aswell St where the antiques shop is - recommended! Love your vlogs! xx

Louths great especially when market is on. The cinema is nice. Woodhall Spa is nice aswell. You must try the cinema there it's called the the kinama in the woods and it's very 1940s style with piano playing in the interval.
