I don’t know if it is possible, but black on the window side and silver on the bed side is the best of both - my screen door mesh is that way here in Japan - easy to see out and hard to see in. 🤗

Good point. I’ve never stopped to wonder why that’s the case: I suppose flat black reflects the least amount of light. But I also have a thing about painting metal in a metal colour: always looks weird to me, it doesn’t feel right.

When I was 19, helping my FIL rip out and install 20+ windows, 3 patio doors and siding too, we had a ton of takeout trash/recycling. The last load, one of the last sticks of aluminum window frame, I tossed it onto the pile, RIGHT into the back window, POP :/ That was my whole 12+hrs of working day's wages to repair. Great lesson though. Nicely done, Jimmy

To anyone who is learning to use an angle grinder (not you Mr. Diresta) please look up proper safety before doing so. This video isn't a safety tutorial by any means so I'm sure this is more of a "Do as I say, not as I do" type of situation with regards to safety. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw you grind with a cut off wheel, I'm glad you switched to something safer. Your content is always amazing, keep being awesome good sir.

The ruler to get welds spaced out was a nice touch. I’m curious though why you don’t use a metal band saw to cut? When I was building stock cars it was one of my favorite tools. Clamp the angle iron in place, set the blade, turn it on and it shut itself off when done. Flip it up and cut those curves easily and clean.

Little tip for working on the fixture table ...the holes are already square to each other....so if you put your first set of blocks on the table, use 2 pins in each slot, and bottom them out in the same direction against the pin....now do a set perpendicular to those, in the same way...bottomed out in the slot, against the pin....now you have a perfect right angle....all that's left to do is mirror the next 4, in the same row of holes, and set them with a tape measure...those float, the first set stay bottomed out against the pins....never go wrong that way

There's a truck i saw on a forum years ago (might've been 99 or 01 or in between) that had a really simple and smart solution to the issue of stuff in the bed smashing the rear window, but also not having to deal with mesh or anything obstructing the view during normal use. Basically... a hinged flap that was affixed to the bed of the truck. When the fella wanted to transport stuff, he'd flip it up (it was threaded plate) and when it was not in use, it was nested in with the rest of the bed. All aluminium construction, pretty similar to what's considered modern these days, but done in the 90's so it was riveted construction afaik.
