@ShakeyVaccy2 жыл бұрын
It has multiplayer now but it's a bit weak. You can't create your own races but instead have to join randomly created ones that are at set times. So jumping online for some karting with friends/people of a similar skill level isn't a thing - a major problem in a racing game as it leads to many frustrating races. Last I was on there was also no collision - which whilst it does stop people deliberately ramming you is also really immersion breaking as you pass through everyone on corners. More like a time trial with ghosts than a race unfortunately.

Other than that Offermanns promised a lot when Ermin did that interview and like nothing happend yet. So i dont care if rF2 gets put in the bin and erased from the sim world. the problem I see in that is: they slow down other high quality brands by taking the licenses of the big motorsport types to just hold them or to release them in more or less poor quality software. I saw some reviews of the latest nascar game, and it was weird. other titles like acc or iracing now got (or will get) problems to do races like le mans 24 because they don't have that license, or may loose it (like in the porsche cup case). rfactor (on its own) was in terms of physics such a good title, but with monetarization will come the downfall. those companies are posion to any kind of software, especially for those titles, which are used by people who love what they are doing.

Can I point out I called this out as soon as they bought rF2 and all I got was called an iRacing Shill? The thing is, regardless of what your favorite sim is, venture capitalism sucks. In ALL industries. It is literally designed around pump and dump at the worst of times, and in the best case scenarios you get a company so out of touch with their user AND employee base that it’s likely they can just implode. At the end of the day, we should strive for the betterment of all sims. Even if you don’t like iracing, they fund a LOT of neat physics systems. AC is generally open to modding, and R3E just is doing its thing. I feel like the only real loser in all of this is rf2. It deserves better, but it’s been so absolutely mismanaged since it’s launch that I can’t help but dislike it. End of the day, the only ones who can protect sim racing are its fans. Keep educated, keep learning, keep understanding. We’re a lot smarter than most venture capitalists deal with in other industries. :) and good luck out there (and CAN SOMEONE PLEASE THROW MONEY AT A GOOD RALLY GAME WITH VR IF ANYTHING)

@@milesfarber I've been playing rFactor 2 since day 1, back When ISI still was in charge of it. Considering what Studio 397 were handed (literally the equivalent of a concept, not an actual full fledged game worth money) they've done a pretty damn good job, particularly on the content side. The UI was always awful, it wasn't 397's fault, and sure they missed the mark in fixing it at first, but the current menu system is perfectly adequate now. Sure the base HUD is just as awful as it was originally, but you can literally install other HUDs so it's really not an issue. Graphically Rf2 looked like crap and 397 made it look genuinely good for what it is, at least if you're on a 397 built track in a 397 built car. The biggest issues with the game which are certain potential cracks in the physics engine and the archaic mod/content management system are ISI's fault and fixing those issues requires going deep into the engine and design of the game, something that would likely require 397 to completely halt all production of new content as well as other improvements because I imagine that they haven't even dared open the Pandora's box that is rF2's engine, they've only been building on top of it. ISI was doing some seriously revolutionary stuff for the time when they first developed rFactor 2 so God only knows what that code looks like and how it actually works. People think the AI suck, but in reality what you have to do is play around with AI settings in the Player.json file. the original rFactor was exactly the same and by default the AI were essentially made crap by their own settings hidden away on a config file with settings only accessible by going into the install directory. They still won't be "amazing" but tbh there really aren't that many racing games in general with AI you can actually call "good". Cut 397 some slack, they deserve a lot of credit.

This tells the same message as countless others in gaming: Keep Wall Street out of Gaming! Or big capital for that matter, once a company is not owned by it's crwator, but is beholden to shareholders who do not care about gaming it goes downhill. Other examples are: Bethesda and it's decline in Quality since going public. Oblivion had it's faults but was overall good, Fallout meh but competently made, Skyrim was "streamlined" to hell for mass market appeal. Fallout 4 was bad, Fallout 76 an unmitigated Cashgrab disaster. EA since going public in the late 90s eraly 2000s. Look at their 90s games, Ultima, Wing Commander, Jane's Combat Sims the original C&C. Then early 2000's BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF2, great games, but by the first BF2 addon, Special Forces, the rot had begun to set in. Now look at the most recent BF releases of BF V and 2042....2042 outright failed. And that was after a high with BF3, BF4 and BF1. And lets not forget how they aquired and ruined Bioware! Do I even need to mention Blizzard? P.S. I could mention a few more, but I shall not for the sake of brevity.

Great post. The main problem is once a company becomes public companies have a fiduciary duty to investors and when what investors want conflicts with gamers, we're going to lose. Investors don't give a shit about the future of a company, only making a short term gain and getting out before the bottom drops out. Reality is with modern games sometimes costing North of 100 million to get to release the money has to come from somewhere. It's a very vicious circle. Capitalism is ruining our games but without it, would our games even be able to exist?

Random Callsign did an interesting one. Rennsport(.)gg is looking for graphic- and video-editors, key account and social media manager, but not even one game-developer. Isn't that a bit odd for a game allegedly build from scratch?

@@Leynad778 Wow that is quite strange. As much as I am for competition in the simracing market, I can't help but think this games main focus will be profit from microtransactions and trading. The car models look stunning, but that's about all we have seen. The whole thing just smells like a pump and dump cashgrab, but I guess there's got to be something in it if ESL is involved. I am very eager to get more info on it.

@@axelode45 Since 'Simbin' showed similar awesome shots in February 2017 from the supposed to be soon release GTR3, I wouldn't be fooled my screenshots alone anymore. We now know that KW Automotive and so Raceroom from Sector 3 Studios is in the boat, but still no trace of GTR3. Maybe Rennsport is actually the GTR3 we were waiting for and since the reputation of the franchise and company-name has been scorched, Rennsport could be a fresh brand to start with. But I can't find any connection between Rennsport CEO Morris Hebecker and KW, but also no 'dirty' history behind this name. Hebecker was working for Codemasters 20 years ago and is involved in a company called Ingman, that develops VR-apps for business purpose. He's also CEO of a company called morphicon since 2010 that does 90% game-development according to their site, but doesn't look big enough to develop a new title from scratch. We will see ... or not...

I would prefer a few largely concentrated high quality games with a large esports backup. As opposed to a large number of trash low quality quick dollar games, of course. But it’s all about money these days nothing else really matters🙄

To be honest, it’s exciting that they were able to expand into so many different form of motor sports. It’s just unfortunate for us players that the people behind this all just wanted a quick buck, and actually don’t give a donkey about us. If the right people acquire motor sports network, which is highly unlikely considering the fact they’re the one acquiring, I think it might actually really hurt the sim racing scene by demotivating people to make games on smaller motor sports, or bigger ones without games. If they fail in WEC, Indycar, and others, no one will want to make indycar and WEC games because the last ones failed.
