Thanks for that! I have been experimenting with D-104's thru the years as well. Having little luck obtaining one with an original crystal element that still works, I tried the Electret replacements too, but find them to be flat and muddy. I tried a 600 ohm element out of a cheap $9 dollar Superstar hand mic purchased online and it provided an amazing amount of clear audio using the original D-104 amp board. I am looking forward to trying your method.

This is a great idea. I use rack for audio, but this is a great thing for this microphone. The D104 is hard to beat.

Never had a D-104 amplifier go bad, alot of mc320 elements go bad because of environment-operator issues. All my D-104's sound perfect the way they are. Nice to see someone making stuff.

Wiring: Green to J1 square pad Yellow to J1 round pad Red battery to + pad Black battery to G pad White to out pad Black to S pad Brown to G pad Violet to SHDN pad D-104 with both PTT's (side of neck and bottom base). Is this the correct wire orientation?

Are the wires coming off the electret module connected directly to the board or can they come off the terminal strip where the electret mic is already connected? Also same thing with the mic wires coming into the D104 base, directly to pre amp board or they can come off the terminal strip too? Already have JP1 soldered for using a 9v battery. Using a TUG8 stand with 4 wire pin and side neck squeeze bar.
@ab9te53410 күн бұрын
@@roughrider3772 electrically as long as the connections go to the correct place there is no reason you can't use the terminal strip

Wiring one up for a friend. Not sure if i have the brown, black violet wires in the right spot. I always thought electrets didn't require a polarizing voltage, but did require a preamp for most uses? Also...Is the resulting impedance presented by this board too low to use this with vacuum tube equipped gear?
@ab9te5344 ай бұрын
Most Electret elements require a voltage to power the internal amplifier circuit that is in them. There are some though (like what comes with the BM-800) where the amplifier is separate from the element. This has a low output impedance but with the addition of one resistor the output voltage is increased enough to work with a vacuum tube type radio

i made a similar but much simplified verson for a local cb'rs 104. i used a 741 op-amp

is the D104 1000 ohm or 500 ohm? Is somebody knows this
@ab9te534 Жыл бұрын
The element itself is very high impedance. Closer to the Megohm range. If the MIC has a preamp board though then it is a low impedance output
