Peter Wright is not a ruck man and not much of a full forward either. Stringer is a forward, so lets play him in the middle. We have two of the best wings in the game in Martin and Dursma so lets play cox and Jones on the wing. and play the other two out of position. Hind has some pace and can kick goals so lets send him to the seconds and play slow old Menzie instead. Archie Roberts Kicking goals and averaging over 25 possession's in the twos but lets not give him a try and play no confidence Archie Perkins instead. It goes on and on and Scott has to wear these enormous stuff ups. The players just don't seem to care... this club is in all sorts of trouble.

It's so incredibly validating to hear you guys rip into the club, it's like all my internal rage is just being articulated for me! In all seriousness though, this club is beyond a joke. Brad Scott seemed like he had something different about him, but we are now 2 years in and there has been no systematic improvement to the team, and like you said, about 3/4 individuals who have improved. One debutant is disgraceful. Play Lewis Hayes, play Roberts, play Jayden Davey, play Hobbs. Brad Scott got sucked into our easy draw and instead of sticking with his "8 year plan" his eyes lit up at the opportunity to exceed expectations and make the 8. So he sacrificed playing some kids, to try to make the 8 and what happens? Just like every other year this decade, we play no kids and still dont make the 8 - another wasted season. The way he has managed selections this year has said all I need to know.

I share your pain guys. I think you touched on a point that hasn't been spoken about much in relation to the Essendon slump, which is the Essendon game plan. After each of the recent losses the opposition team players have been interviewed on TV and they have explained their teams' game plans to beat Essendon. Same thing is happening to Sydney (also 1 from 5 in recent matches). This is squarely with the coaches, yet every after-match interview Brad blames the players' lack of "adherence to process". Teams like the Hawks, Brisbane, Geelong, the Doggies have adapted. Pressure is a given requirement, but game plan is the additional differentiator in a season where the teams are so even and the game speed is lightening fast. Adapt or perish. I think the bomber players are reacting to having to play a game plan they know is not working!

Brad Scott simply needs to learn to trust young players a lot more. It was a huge problem he had for his whole tenure at North Melbourne that has without question contributed to how historically bad they have been because much of the young talent they had under him have struggled to develop properly until recently. He tends to trust veterans too much and that's all well and good if it leads to two consecutive shock Preliminary Final appearances. Otherwise start bleeding in more of the young guys and actually think about the future. Its really not that hard nor much to ask for. Another thing he needs to do is once and for all stop experimenting so much with the team like a mad scientist and stop playing so many of our players out of their best positions. Put Nic Martin back on the wing where he was legitimately All-Australian level last season and more importantly where his turnovers won't hurt the team anywhere as much. Those big problems aside amongst some others purely from a coaching standpoint, I am personally willing to keep backing Brad Scott because ultimately we have been through far too many Coaches for nearly 20 years now and not really given many of them a legitimate chance to get out the rut and try and come cleaner on the other side. If he isn't the chosen one, if he isn't the one to bring success back to the club then so be it. At least he would done all the hard dirty work and laid some solid foundations for whoever succeeds him. Overall in my short life time never has a season hurt as much as this one and I know hurtful seasons all too well also following Liverpool and the Boston Celtics before their recent success.

Having said all that, if you had a #1 pick and he developed into a "turnover king," then perhaps the development is the real problem. There is also a recent example of a people's revolution resulting in a coup of the board. Eddie was against it of course, but it caused the sacking of Bucks the coach. They got a fresh coach in with high energy and, within 2 years, they won the flag. So yes, with sufficient groundswell, it is do-able.

I had to think about what to write so I thought after watching your upload last night to sleep on it and not just rant. I went to the game on Saturday with a good friend of mine who is a die hard St.Kilda supporter. He could'nt believe what he saw, that is he could'nt believe how shit Essendon was given we had more to play for given the stakes. To be honest I I conceded defeat when St.Kilda were up by 26 points and it got worse from there. It was there for all to see just how bad we played. Notably, players not picking up an opposition player, players standing in no mans land, players making the wrong options and kicking to the opposition, players flying for marks too early or pushed under the ball, but the best was watching MacKay being outmarked, out bussled and caught out of position and no second effort what so ever. Mistakes a plenty with Redmans kick in to the opposition, easy goals missed and missed tackles. From where I sat I could see a disgruntled Sarah Jones from Fox Footy sitting on the boundy in disbelief like the rest of the Essendon faithful who gave up their mid cold, wet and freezing afternoon to support the club. I echo your thoughts about certain players as do the majority of Essendon supporters. In my opinion we have probably 60% of the players that played on Saturday that deserve their spot on our list. Its easier to name the players that should be shown the door but I won't, we all know who they are. As I sat there watching St.Kilda dismantle us effortlessly I thought to myself, why did we not give D'Ambrosio another fking year? thats all he was asking! Look at him now, a winner in a team that has had one coach change since their last premiership, had a rebuild and is out of the 8 by percentage. You're right, the Hawks have overtaken us and are miles ahead. I always had my doubts about Brad Scott as our coach. I don't really rate him. He almost convinced me in the first half of this year when we sat high up the ladder and like you guys I defended our position on the laddrer when people questioned the teams we got our wins against. How pathetic hearing our players were upset when last weeks game against Melbourne was reviewed. Was their effort on Saturday a protest agains the spray the supposedly recieved? I see a divide amongst some of our players. I'm hearing Redman is not happy playing with MacKay who came to essendon on more money than him. Perkins going through the motions because he is not playing in the midfield. It was evident on Saturday that Zac Merritt has had enough. He was walking off the field ahead of the rest of the players and he stopped twice and looked back at the rest of the stragglers making their way off the field. Agree with you, he should ask for a trade he deserves a better team and success. We haven't improved, are list is poor and our administration is the biggest boys club outside of the Playboy mansion. Maybe Sheedy was correct with comments he made about Brad Scotts appointment preferencing Hird. I've supported this club all my life, DT I'm roughly your age. I went to my first VLF match when I was about 8 or 9. A work collegue of my mother took me to VFL Park to watch Collingwood vs St.Kilda on ANZAC day in the 70's. Jokingly she said we will take you but you have to barrack for Collingwood. I agreed just so I could go watch a live VFL game. Peter McKenna was playing in those days. I was so taken by what i had witnessed that day that I switched to Collingwood. It wasn't until I was about 11 that my uncle started to take me to Windy Hill to watch the Bombers. Struggling then too under the coaching of Stevens but the talent was their. I knew I had red and black in my veins and without hesitation switched back to Essendon. Since then I have watched Essendon play in100's of matches. Stuck by them through thick and thin and I will renew my membership only beacuse I have good seats at both the MCG and Marvel but what I saw on Saturday was deplorable. Essendon fans leaving just after half time and the players being booed off and abused as they were coming off the ground. Sadly they deserved it. Good on you both for being our voice and if you do decide to sit on the board you have my vote. Finally Brad Scott will never challange the MRO because he knows when his time is done atEssendon he will go back to the AFL with a clean sheet.

Essendon has been conning it's supporters all year because we have struggled against every team we played , even the bottom teams, which is why our percentage is so shit. It was a minor miracle that we somehow found ourselves so high up the ladder and lied to ourselves that we were a good team. As we slide down the ladder, in the next few weeks we'll have reached our true place on the ladder which will be well out of the eight. Love you guys and it's good to have another shoulder to cry on. Guys, it's good therapy to hear mirrored thoughts of us followers. One thing I heard on SEN worth noting is King said he had some mail that Langford is carrying an abdominal injury. Not sure if it is true but it would explain the kicking. Aside from that it's interesting to hear the players weren't happy with the coaches giving them a rev up. I have wondered a couple of times if the tail wags the dog at Essendon. Coach after coach comes in and the pattern repeats, it's hard to think none of them ever trained the players to defend and maybe Brad's comments about poor execution, effort and intent mirrors that. Now, being my own devil's advocate, Scott needs to give these guys 2 or 3 games and if they don't show form, show them the door to the VFL. Sometimes I wish the pay structure mirrored other sports where there is a base pay with structured payments for wins, losses etc. In the motogp the riders' contracts include more pay for podiums, it makes sense to me because it seems in ALF (happy to be wrong) you sign your contract and then it's happy days, win, lose, or draw. What I am seeing (apart from less than a handful) is players who don't hate to lose. It doesn't burn them, fuel them, or make them want to be better. Happy to be wrong but I put this situation down to 75% players 25% Scott.

Player led laziness. That makes sense

@@absolutelyessendon It is just a guess but it seems weird that 3 coaches have failed to teach them to defend - either they are really lacking in the IQ department or it's intentional - either way the answer is - play the kids - make everyone earn their spot 2 bad games in a row - you're in the VFL.

@absolutelyessendon DT, to follow on from the comment above, it sounds like you have a corporate background. Is it wrong these days to rant and rave at an employee or group. Is the coach not permitted to scream at the players anymore because it would be discrimitory to do so. These days it seems you can't look at someone sideways without the fear of being sued.

I loved this club growing up as a kid. I was 9 when I witnessed the 93 baby Bombers and ever since then the Bombers of the 90's have always been a great memory. Even more so imo than the 2000 Bombers. I grew up in a split family estranged from my father who is the reason I'm an Essendon supporter, never witnessing a GF win with him as a grown man. I have lived in fear I will never see one with him before he's gone. I said this time last year I don't think I can do this anymore, the stress of very much believing we will not in fact see one before he's gone is a lot. And yet this year we've donew it yet again. Where's is improvement Brad sees? I heard last week that the club is now walking back Dodoro leaving the club? Brad's refusing to play any kids, 1 debutants this year? Or not dropping guys not getting it done? The more things change the more they stay the same i guess. Why should we be buying into this club?

Brad Scott is not a good coach… good coaches get heart from their players even if skill and talent can’t bridge the gap. I’m sick of him going on about “brand”, “system”, “program” and all these things that are skills and talent based… clearly our biggest issue isn’t necessarily those things - it’s the intangible… it’s the fight and the will to grind their way out of a hole instead of grabbing the shovels and silver platters.

In 2018 we beat Port Adelaide both games then the next year they went above us. Carlton were at bottom of the ladder until early 2020's.
