I watched ALL the IRA/Maverick shows and was really impressed. Large car counts and great racing! Good to see winged 410’s running on the Indiana tracks finally…

Was at Skagit all three nights. After a 5 hour drive home watched the Maverick race last night. The action was good. Camera work less than so. If you have poles in the way then find a better location, maybe rent ( or get one donated by a local equipment company friendly to racing) a cherry picker and go above the stands to see the whole track, or something.

EVERYTHING about the IRA was impressive. Venues, competitors, safety, and Is great commentating. They have certainly found another fan here. By the way, if you haven't seen NARC, amazing racing there also, just stay up late

I watched all of the Maverick Mayhem shows and was entertained by them all. I am glad to see Winged Racing making its way back to Indiana. I love traditional sprints but I also enjoy winged. I have been watching the IRA Sprints since I got FloRacing in 2020. They put on some great races. I enjoy watching the lower-tier teams and try to support them through merchandise sales. I have merchandise from Bill Rose, Noah Gass, Wayne Johnson, Justin Henderson, and others not on high-profile teams.

We went to all 4 nights of Maverick Mayhem. And I was less than impressed with the crowds. You couldnt ask for a better on track product. I felt really bad for Joe Spiker because the crowds at Putnamville and Terre Haute were terrible. Bloomington and Haubstadt were about 75% of a USAC crowd. I will say temps were in the mid 90s all 4 days and it was miserable so that didnt help. We had a blast and hope to make it a yearly thing. But I'm worried about that. The only way this happens again is if the national attention was enough to give them hope. Because they lost their butts on 2 of the shows if not 3. With Bloomington paying 6000 for Maverick and 5000 to the 305 winner. Im not sure how much they could have made with less people there than a USAC show. I will say they had all Maverick merch half off towards the end of the night at Terre Haute. That included their series shirt for the year. So rumors were swirling Maverick may just fold. We all know how race track rumors are though.

I watched the IRA races, there was some good racing. Not hard to believe Courtney would have won all if them if he was entered. That move by Courtney in 3&4 was badass, one of the best moves I've ever seen.

Watched all of Ohio sprintweek and the maverick races. I'm absolutely super impressed with it all. Ohio didn't have super big names but had incredible car counts and some awesome racing. Not having the big names there aloud for some new drivers to make a name for themselves. I'm now a big danny Sams fan. Honestly hadn't heard of him until watching that week. Was nice to see a few of our Aussie boys mixing it up also. Maverick was also dam good. Some very exciting tracks and ripper fields of cars. This race fan doesn't need big names when you have Stella fields and great race-nights. It's been great to follow during the aussie winter, wish I was there!

I usually have 3-5 races on the weekend nights on my computer(3 monitors) and TV. Friday had the IRA/Mav, Skagit, Lernerville and Grove, Saturday Port Royal, IRA/Mav, Lernerville and Skagit. As long as the fields are competitive I don't care if it's a local or touring race.

Watched all three nights at Skagit dirt cup, really like the preliminary nights format making the top national drivers/point drivers race from mid pack to the front rather than just pull away from the pack like they do on a regular night, racing outlaws and high limit much better format and racing.

I appreciate good racing wherever I find it, but I do enjoy knowing who is in the car, not personally, but at least their name and driving style. Seeing faces and body language is something a lot of other sports have on racing, I think.

I like to think that I will watch a sprint car race even if it's not the top series, but I did watch a lot of the Maverick/IRA shows but I struggled to stay engaged. I find that if I don't have a rooting interest, I just don't care as much. It's the same reason I struggle to get into NASCAR, & late models. I want to watch more late model races, but I just don't know the drivers & it makes it hard to get into it. It comes down to being a fan of the drivers & teams more than the racing itself.

I watched all of the IRA/Maverick shows. It may not be the level of WoO or High Limit, but there’s enough names that I enjoyed it and it was refreshing to see someone else win for a change. Was actually a little disappointed Huset’s rained out which led to Courtney coming down to dominate.

I attended 5 out of the 9 Ohio Speedweek races. The crowd this year was way more actual race fans and way less of the WOO/HL fans (people that know it all/cheer at crashes/get pissed because they don't start the feature 4 wide). However, the crowds were noticably smaller this year, which is concerning. So it's a double edge sword. Maverick/IRA/FAST are where it's at if you are a hardcore fan. WOO/HL are a necessary evil if you want the crowds

@@Mofo82b also did five out of nine, had a blast, just have fun and enjoy the racing, millstream was dusty and hard to follow the a main, but it is what it is, it's dirt they can't control everything, it's not a video game, they will get it figured out

I tuned in to IRA/Maverick for the majority of the racing events. I thought it was very good racing. Great car counts. If I live near these tracks, I would absolutely attend them. But it was obvious a lot of people did not. Heck, the first race of the week looked like it had 200 people there? It got a little better for the weekend. But still, light crowds. I do not get it.

I disagree with good racing is not enough, I don't tie myself to any aeries and I watch all forms of dirt track racing and sometimes the 4 cylinder racing is the best.
@edminas31593 ай бұрын
To you question is good racing enough. I don't think so. I have been a dirt fan since 1976 but I am dedicated. I don't think the new fans will tolerate all the down time with track prep etc. Other sports have things like half time shows racing needs to do the same. Why can't we have live entertainment during down times? Keep fans entertained so they don't have to twiddle their thumbs. Bowmen Grey always has big crowds but they don't have hours of track prep.
@dwaynemathias38343 ай бұрын
I believe the average fan is not interested in a Central Pa show that doesn't consist of names like Borden, Dewease, Dietrich, Macri, or Rahmer. Just like any sport you need the names to draw the fans.
@mikepriceup3 ай бұрын
To answer your question about big names draw fans look no farther than the sport we both love NASCAR. as more big names the Earnhardts waltrips Wallace gordan Stewart the Allison's have retired or gone on the that big Daytona in the sky attendance has suffered and in a big way. Usmts canceled a show up in Iowa due to weather a couple of years ago and the big names showed up at lakeside in kck and the fans came out in droves.

I watched all the maverick race's and loved them all, but the problems on Sunday were not good. Waiting on the sun to go down. They started around 6 with hot laps and was going on a good pace until they took time to let the sunset? Drivers complained they couldn't see going into 3 ? Strange
@ezduzit40093 ай бұрын
This has been a type of policy at Terre Haute since the early 2000s. There have been alot of bad wrecks and it was a result of drivers not being able to see the corner entry while racing a guy. Terre Haute produces a very fine sandy dust that glares unbelievably in the sun. It's not anything new there, just doesn't happen unless the sun is setting as it's time to start heat races. Which is typically this time of year. Expect to possibly see the same thing for the Sumar classic on the 4th and the sprint week race there.

Im a LM fan, so I watched all the late model races on. I generally watch all of the outlaw sprints and high limit races, so I do watch a lot of sprint cars. I did pop in to watch these IRA/Maverick races, not gonna lie, this was some terrible content. On a personal level, I cant stand Pat Sullivan, nothing really wrong with him, just hate hearing his voice and I dont feel he does a good job outside of USAC, and even then he wastes too much time on the lore of it and not enough on the present race. As a reference, Essex is God, Jarrett and Shelton are great up-and-comers, Ive been happy with High Limits team overall, Laporta is starting to grate on my nerves more as the season goes on, but is better than when he did USAC. Not a big fan of Gibson, but recognize he is a master of the craft. Sullivan is no where on my list. On a professional broadcast level, the camera work was terrible, they didnt even follow the battles half the time, sometimes the camera was just stationary and showed nothing. The sound was awful as well. On the officiating, IRA or Maverick, whoever was in charge seems like a fly by night crew who have no idea what they are doing. I think it was Terre Haute, they had a heat race jumped start, BIG TRACK, plenty of time to call it. They through the yellow as the leaders were exiting 4, the front were slowed up by turn 1 and the rear darn near junked the field because they didnt have enough warning to slow down, one car smacked the inside wall trying to avoid a massive pile up. Ultimately, it was so bad I couldnt waste the bandwidth and turned it off, every night.
