COVID in 2020 took our 24-hour Walmart's, it took our all day breakfast biscuits from McDonald's, and it took away our 24-hour cafes. I love going to Walmart and Kerbey Lane at 4:00 / 4:30 in the morning. It's perfect when you actually work tonight shift. No traffic, hardly any people, full shopping, good food, and you don't have to stay up to a 3:00 a.m. equivalent to get it done. We really should make a move to bring them all back.

I remember my sophomore year of college. I was sitting in my apartment at 1 in the morning watching tv. I got hungry so I drove to Walmart and got a pumpkin pie with some whipped cream. Funny story: 30 years ago before my local Walmart, there was a dying Woolco in the middle of nowhere. Walmart came, revitalized the building, more people shopped there. We had manifestations, people saying it was putting other shops out of business. Fast forward to 5 years ago, and the whole boulevard was booming, tons of shops restaurants and residential neighborhoods where there used to be a marsh behind the Walmart. 5 years ago, heavy machinery fell through the roof during repairs, causing the store to close for a year and half. Every single shop and restaurant around saw a sharp decrease in foot traffic and sales. No one complained again that Walmart was hurting everyone else's sales

Okay, here's a hint: meat never goes bad if you vacuum seal it and freeze it! The Meat at Walmart goes bad before the best-buy date because it doesn't have many preservatives! That is a good thing. Tangent! So, there's a horror author named Bentley Little. Long ago, Little came up with a gimmick for naming his books- they'd all be a one word concept and the book's plot. The University. About an evil college. The Resort. A cursed resort. The Mailman. The Policy. About an insurance policy where once you sign up for it, increasingly weird and evil stuff begins to happen to you. ... Look, they can't all be winners. Anyway, in 1996, he wrote one called "The Store" which was, well, this. But much more evil. This is more "Monster Club" and Little's like "The Light at the End." Which is also an obscure reference. I doubt that Trey and Matt have ever heard of, let alone read this book, and the whole "evil store" thing is a long running theme in movies and literature, but I just thought I'd mention it. Especially since every once in a while, I think of the local Whole Foods having a room full of ghouls beneath the store who roam the place at night, cleaning up and dealing with intruders.

Unfortunately, as someone who has worked at 2 major retail stores (though one is a bit more local region wise than the other), I can confirm that a lot of people with either mental or physical disabilities are put on cart duty. Most of them get paid 2 - 3 dollars/hr less than everyone else and they either have way more hours than they can work properly or not enough to help them pay for what they need. Wal-Mart will have able bodied people collect carts, but places like Meijer only have able bodied people help with carts when the store is out of carts internally or when its super windy out so they don't have to worry about paying people lots of money for the wind blowing carts into people's cars. Or if they are under aged (depending on where the store is located, because Trafficking is a massive issue near the last one I worked at.) But yeah, kind of sucks.

I worked at the Caribou Club in Aspen in 2003 and at that time the closest Wal-Mart was in Rifle CO - like 40 miles away. I live and work in the NW Arkansas area and their HQ is in Bentonville and Rogers, so they pretty much have a monopoly on the region. They bring in tons of Indians to work at the HQ instead of training and hiring US citizens.

If we are going out for an average meal, we'll pick up meats and stuff at Sobeys or Walmart. We usually just buy it and cook it that day so the freshness isn't an issue.. however, inflation has kinda gone insane lately. So the "premium places" that only put up their prices like once or twice a year (because they were expensive anyway) are now only a few dollars more than Walmart. Walmart wings? Like $14.99. M&M's? 18.99, but walmart had 10 wings in a huge box. M&Ms had 27 wings in a smaller box than walmarts lol. Two 10 oz striploins? Was 25.99 at walmart. 2 Prime rib that are like 24 oz? Like $36 at Hallidays meat market. I'd rather spend $63 instead of $50 and get 3 times more wings and twice as much steak. If things continue as they are, in 5 years the premium places will have cheapter alternatives than sobeys and walmart; known for its cheapness lol

OK,the I take different forms do you want to see them is a call back to Season 7 Episode 1 "Cancelled", a part you cut from this reaction the "we know how to destroy it" and the guy getting on the telegraph to send the word out is a Reference to the end of Independence Day. I used to shop at Walmart every single night to buy and take home whatever I felt like having for dinner that night, when they cut back there hours to 8:30 pm closing during the initial pandemic cutbacks I could no longer shop there and had to go elsewhere, I would estimate i've been in any Walmart maybe 2 dozen, maximum 3 dozen times since they started closing at night. Fact is Walmart was wanting to ditch the 24 hour model and the coof was just their excuse to do it.
