Admittedly, I'm a bit late to the conversation, but I recently watched 'Somewhere in Queens' during a flight. Before settling on this film, I had started and abandoned three or four other new releases, each failing to capture my interest beyond the first 15 minutes. However, 'Somewhere in Queens' instantly grabbed my attention. As a father to a young adult son and part of a family that's both close-knit and occasionally tumultuous, I found an immediate and deep connection with the movie. To my own surprise, I was moved to tears multiple times during the flight, even trying (and failing) to conceal my emotions from fellow passengers. This review resonates strongly with me, and I wholeheartedly concur that this is the best movie I've seen this year.

Yeah it feels like a very personal film for ray ramano and was quite good and real.

I just watched it on Hulu, and agree with you 100%. The only thing I did not agree with was you made it sound like because he is Ray Romano, he can do anything he wants, like direct a film for the first time. I have a feeling that even Ray Romano has to work hard to get the financial backing to make a film that he co-wrote and direct. Still, great review, but it's hard not to say that when I agree with you. This is not a Hallmark Channel family, even when Hallmark tries to make the family dynamic realistic (messy).

To be fair I probably worded it wrong. But he has a lot of pull similar to Jerry Seinfeld with unfrosted. He can have something like this greenlit easier than most people.

Good review man. Sounds interesting. Cool too see that Ray Ramano is directing now

Yeah it’s nice to see he has talent similar to like a Ben affleck in front and behind the camera.

Totally agree with your review. I saw it today and loved it! Agree with your review of Laurie Metcalf's performance. I think it is next to impeccable. A must see as far as I am concerned.

Agree on all levels. I hope it’s early release doesn’t hurt it’s chances

I lasted about 20 minutes. No likeable characters. Nothing funny.

A tough watch I agree. But I made it through and it felt like I was with a real albeit miserable family, that somehow found some joy. Not a happy go lucky sitcom, but sometimes families are like that.
