when this song was popular, my Virginia "love of my life" went to Virginia to visit his family and he stopped when he crossed the state line and called me from a phone booth and sang this song to me......this recording has been special to me ever since....thank you Jack and Misty

OMG I am so glad I found you guys here. I'm a lifelong working picker (J David Sloan's bass player at Mr Lucky's here in Phoenix for 14 years). I was introduced to you guys Mickey Newbury, Asleep At The Wheel, Jeannie Shepherd etc. by my mom when I was about 12 to 15, and it was a HUGE impact on me.

It was then that I began to think "Hey, I wanna do THAT" This song and "Must Be More..." were VERY important pieces in the sound(8)track of my life. Jack, your voice was the one I always wanted, one with a character that NO ONE else had. Never really got (I suppose it's cuz you were still usin' it) . Anyway I'm THRILLED!!! CAN'T WAIT TO HIP MY MOM TO THIS!!! (even though she'll get all nostalgic and emotional) but this is SO WORTH IT!!!

I love this tune! I'm from Richmond, Virginia. How fitting the other day it was raining and I thought of this song.

I first heard this song back in 1985 while a passenger in a semi truck, for years I was trying to find this song I loved it so much. The reason I couldn't find it was I was looking for 'Lost in Virginia in the Rain HeHe. Thank you Jack and Misty for such beautiful and original music over the years.

Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood tried to follow your style / sound. They weren't as good. Probably made more dough, though. In my CD on "rain" songs, I use this and call your lyric "Aw, c'mon" the most poignant lyric -- for its length -- in all of music, because one knows, right then and there, how the story will end. It was great!!

Cellophane is the worst rhyme ever ~ and little country towns do NOT look the same as each other . So dumb .
