When my son was about three, I showed him this movie and he liked this song. When he got older and enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Afghanistan, I used to stand outside with my dog at night before we would go to bed and look at the moon and sing this song to him. So glad he made it back in one piece, because sadly, a lot of his buddies didn't. One of the most beautiful songs ever made.

YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL MOTHER TO LOVE YOUR SON SO MUCH (AS I LOVE MY DAUGHTER THE SAME) TO SING THIS SONG TO HIM EVERY NIGHT AS YOU TOOK YOUR DOG OUT. I CAN ACTUALLY SOMEHOW FEEL THAT MOMENT. GOD GAVE ME AN AMAZING GIFT THAT IS BEYOND SURREAL. YES, I AM A VERY DEEPLY COMPASSIONATE PERSON FOR OTHERS. I CRIED AS I READ YOUR STORY. I TOO, AM SO GRATEFUL YOUR DEAR SON MADE IT BACK FROM BEING DEPLOYED. BUT YOU ARE RIGHT, IT IS SO VERY SAD THAT A LOT OF YOUR SONS' BUDDIES DIDN'T MAKE IT BACK ALIVE. MY DAUGHTER LOVED THIS SONG AS A LITTLE GIRL AND STILL TODAY FOR DIFFERENT REASONS. SHE AND HER HUSBAND HAD A BABY GIRL THAT DIED SUDDENLY ( SIDS) AT THE SWEET AND CUTE AGE OF 3 AND A HALF MONTHS OLD. HER DADDY GAVE HER THE NAME OF EVOLEHT (THE LOVE SPELLED BACKWARDS). THEY WANTED TO GO BE WITH THEIR MOST PRECIOUS GIFT FROM GOD. SADLY, NICK, EVOLEHT RAELYNS' DADDY DIED ONE YEAR AGO THIS 12 NOVEMBER. I AM 13 AND A HALF HOURS FROM MY DAUGHTER AND I CAN'T BE WITH HER AS I HAVE CANCER. SHE WILL BE COMING TO VA FOR HOPEFULLY A LONG TIME. THIS SONG TO APRIL IS ABOUT HER BABY GIRL AND HER LOVING HUSBAND, NICK. HUG YOUR SON FOR ME AND THANK HIM FOR HIS SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY. I COME FROM A LONG HISTORY OF MILITARY. MY PARENTS, BROTHER, HUSBAND, FATHER-IN-LAW, COUSIN, UNCLE, ETC., BE WELL AND STAY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER IN PEACE AND LOVE. I SEND MY HUGS TO YOU BOTH.~~BEV~~RICHMOND, VA

I can't listen to this song without getting tears in my eyes. When I was a teenager, I gave up my first botn son for adoption. It was a closed adoption and I longed to be able to see his face, know his personality and interests. This song gave me hope that one day we would be reunited. A month before my son turned 19 years old, he contacted me. I could not have been happier! We were so much alike! We remained in contact and saw each other a few times a year. Five years after we reunited, I got married for the first time. I danced first with my husband, then with my Dad. I then danced with my son to this song. I couldn't believe we were reunited, that he was at my wedding and that we were sharing this special moment. I have to say, there was not a dry eye at my reception after this song and dance. Unfortunately, my son and I are no longer in contact. Every time I hear this song, I think of him. I remember the many years of longing to know him, the answered prayer in our reunion, and the hope that we will, at some point be together again.

About 16 years ago I used to sing this song every night before bed and wished for a puppy who ‘’was somewhere out there’’. As I sit here, surrounded by the memories of a lifetime, my heart still aches for the man who was my everything. Seventeen years have passed since he left my side, but the longing for him remains as palpable as the moment he took his last breath. My husband, a tower of a man, was more than just a partner - he was my rock, my confidant, my best friend. The father to my children , His rugged hands, worn from years of ranching and drilling, were beautiful and held me through turbulent storms. His eyes sparkled with a mischievous sense of humor that could light up a room and make my heart skip a beat. I was blessed to have spent 29 years by his side, and yet, it feels like a lifetime ago that we shared our laughter, our tears, and our dreams. His absence has left me wondering who the hell I am. I was his wife since I was 19. I've tried to re-live the memories, but even they leave me even more hollow with time. But oh, the memories I hold dear - of his rugged cowboy charm, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering kindness. He was a man of the land, with a heart as vast as the valley. And the river that flowed alongside our Colorado home. His hands could fix anything, from a broken fence to 2500 lbs mud pump to a full semi engine! As I look back, I realize that our life together was a beautiful, messy, wonderful tapestry, woven from threads of joy and sorrow, triumph and tragedy. And through it all, he was my constant, my north star, my safe haven. If only I could turn back time, I'd hold him closer, cherish every moment, and tell him how much I loved him, how much I still love him!!! But time waits for no one, and all I'm left with is the ache of his absence and the memories that refuse to fade. If you're listening, know that I'm still here, holding on to the love we shared, and cherishing every moment we had. My heart may be broken, but it's still beating, still yearning for the man who made me a mother Reach out to me, if you will, and let's share in the beauty of memories, the pain of loss, and the power of love that transcends even death itself. Truly. The green eyed widow

If I were to be taken to heaven this very night, I would treasure this moment...as my best friend and I listen to this beautiful anthem from opposite sides of the country... AN anthem of love and affirmation that love is as pure and full of grace as God's blessing! Here's to you "underneath the same big sky!"

Just the way Ronstadt envelopes her singing partner, James Ingram, is wonderful. Thought this was a bit too sentimental when it was a huge hit back in the 80s but now it sounds lovely.
@manuelorozco77609 жыл бұрын
+zane blast I was not even born in the 80's but I agree. Ingram is a natural in the song. However, I prefer him when he sang Our Time Has Come in Cats Don't Dance. I don't remember the female singer who sang with him.

Thank you so much for keeping this classic song available for others to come back and appreciate. I've been searching for more innocent family friendly songs to share lately and this had been the number one song across generations and even countries, too. Wishing you excellent health and much happiness. Please take care and have a beautiful day. 🌞🌻💛

My song to my sister when we where younger are parents seperated and moved to a different state missed her dearly... I cried myself to sleep and remember watching out the window of the car on our long rides wishing for her with the tears in my eyes.. I can say now after 25 yrs. I made it a point to find her and now we live together after all these yrs.. my dream came true. I love you Tanya : )

Bless you Jennifer and I'm so happy you found your sister after all those years. I always feel one of the saddest things in the whole world is a child crying itself to sleep. And sadly, I guess it will be happening somewhere in this big world tonight.

So much sadness. James had a wonderful life. As he came to his final curtain, he was suffering and mercifully he slipped away to rest in peace. Don't be sad, be glad. Yes he will be remembered.

Yeah, the Disney songs from the late 80s to mid 90s were special - this one's from a Don Bluth film produced by Steven Spielberg, though. It's a very special thing to be able to do this kind of art. And they aren't able to do it anymore, 'cause the values projected in movies today are cynical.

I am a Korean. I heard this song in Japanese version for the first time. The melody sounded very sweet and soothing. I knew the original version was an American song but I didn't know who its originator was and what the English title with kyrics was called. After all, I got to know Some out there was sung originally by Linda Ronstadt and James Ingram. Beautiful song!
