Hey my love,
As I write these words, it has already been three days since Catherine conveyed the news of your passing to me. Although I had been mentally prepared for it for some time, the news still hit me quite hard. But I am getting through the days because during our time together, you made me a stronger and better person. I am grateful for the journey we were able to share.
Today, on the Friday before your funeral, I recorded a video. It is the piece "Somewhere over the Rainbow," and I tried to play it in homage to the version by the Hawaiian artist Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. I have always felt that this song is about dying or life after death. "Where trouble melts like lemon drops, high above the chimney tops. That's where you'll find me" - what a wonderful thought; one day I will see you there again.
Initially, I tried to play the piece in a more leisurely manner, fitting the circumstances. However, I kept getting too fast while playing, so I ultimately gave up and just played it entirely fast. I believe you would still like it, and if you were still here, you would say something nice to me and look at me with that smile, this smile that has been eternally engraved in my heart.
