Somi was in Sixteen, the JYP Show that produced TWICE. So she almost ended up with them. After that she was in Produce 101, the show that produced the temporary band I.O.I out of 101 trainees from about 50 different companies. She became the center, main vocal and main dancer, despite beeing the youngest in the group. After the activities with I.O.I ended (it was always supposed to be ending after a year), she got a solo contract with JYP. There she did all kind of promotions like TV shows and stuff, but transfered to THEBLACKLABEL (sublabel of YG) later , where she got to debute now. Because of these things her name is allready really known, despite the fact she has just now debuted as a solo singer.
