What material do you use to make the Raised Panels door

You can use Popular, Oak or any hard or soft wood. Hard wood is best. Popular can be stained best with a Gel stain.

The width dimension for the rails is too wide, and the length dimension for the stiles does not make sense. Rails do not loose 7/16 width only the stile ends loose the 7/16".

Top rail and bottom rail are the short ones, by width he means the length of the top and bottom rails which go width ways.

@@raycarnis9540 Yes, that is correct. The rails will lose 7/16" on each side so you need to add 14/16"(7/8") to your rail measurement to get the correct external width dimension of your door after using the cope bit. the styles remain the length of the door.

@@shadespicturehangingsystem1015 Unfortunately, you're thinking of this incorrectly. The width of the Styles are 2-7/16" each, the length of the rail is 8" but the cope on the end of the rail will inset into the style by the 7/16" on either side. Think of this as "visual" measurements after assembly, Style 1 at 2-7/16", the Rail at 7-1/8", then Style 2 at 2-7/16" for a total width of 12". Freeze the video at 1:31 and you'll see how the rail is inset into the style.

Crap instructions, and thoughtless measurements. This video was garbage. Yeah, let’s EYEBALL so we can make a million test cuts to make a flat shaker back. Hey, I have an idea... Why not have a precise measurement or setup tool that will make it more precise and reliable every time?

Hmmm... I finally followed Ann's advice and took Woodglut. It's great for beginners and has some advanced stuff too.
