More like an attention-spoiled child getting jealous of a demanding toddler Cuz let’s be honest, Pikachu really is attention-spoiled. Whenever he wants Ash’s attention, he gets it, no questions asked. Even with Ash’s other Pokémon around, Pikachu still got attention when he asked for it. Then Riolu came along and when Pikachu asked for attention, Ash brushed him off because Riolu kept wanting to train. Eventually he had to seek out that attention from Ash’s mom because Ash was too busy with Riolu. Still out of character for Pikachu, but just saying that this is a better comparison

The most hilarious part of the Unova falloff to me is that not ONLY was Ash acting stupid as hell on top of Pikachu's nerf, but they had an episode that flat-out canonically stated that Ash is dumber than a brick: _Capacia Island UFO!_ The Beheeyem just came out and said that their mind control only works on intelligent people, so that was some SHADE thrown on Ash.
