I agree with whoever said either side of historians are valid in their arguments as to whether the nature of Jesus as depicted in the gospels are accurate, or the opposite argument that Jesus did exist but the writers of the Bible either exaggerated or engaged in mistaken identity by combining several accounts of several eccentric preachers during Augustus/Tiberius reign in Palestine into one person. I am a Christian and I believe in the former as opposed to the latter but I am not surprised many historians believe in the latter and that ultimately the latter appears more credible. Then there are small portion of historians who think Jesus was a human invention or that he was a constructed invention based on the teachings of a radical Jewish priest/teacher. Also all of these groups with exception to the first/last one differ as to how to explain all of their positions and what a timeline of the more historical Jesus's life would look like.

I am an atheist, but I am very fascinated by Christian Mythology. Hell, I love all mythology. But what I would like to see is a movie that is like Jesus Christ Superstar, but without the singing (because I can't stand musicals). A movie that talks about Jesus as a man, or a profit. A movie that treats him more like Gandhi and less like the messiah. A movie that talks about what Jesus, as a man, taught and how the controversies behind his teaching ultimately led to his downfall. THAT would be a pretty bad-ass movie if you ask me. A Jesus movie that doesn't shove his majesty as the messiah down our throats and isn't an anti-Semitic snuff film (looking at you Passion and Mel Gibson)

Just going to fill you in on some info. When Jesus came down to heal the poor, and convey a message, being human was easier for people to understand. He only helped few and did small miracles because Jesus was their to connect to the people as a person himself. God knew it would be easier for people to take, and it would set in events to give humans one more chance, while they still have free will. It doesn't affect the person experiencing the miracle as much when you do small miracles to those deep in sin and poverty. Even when I was Christian, I found Christian movies like that Kevin Sorbo garbage to be vomit-inducing. I did like a good Biblical movie though. Some are good, most aren't. But when you really view it through the lens of archetypes, it can be a rewarding movie. The same reasons one might get chills watching Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Jesus was the original Neo.

EarlRegent I have read several fairly credible books and publications that indicate that there was indeed a "Jesus" in roughly the same time frame as the religious Jesus. He was an intelligent guy that was killed for disobeying the rulers of the land. He was not a god or a deity, but he did exist. He was probably a smartass too, I'd watch that movie.

Archedgar Unlikely. The Romans really, really liked to keep record of what happened all across the empire from full revolts all the way down to common executions. They also kept record of all known religious cults and their leaders. Point being that there was no record of a man named Jesus who was the leader of some Jewish splinter religion being executed or even having existed. All records relating to Jesus are third-hand accounts at best.

They could only write on dried leafs and clay tablets, so keeping permanent records was expensive. However, there are two Roman historians who wrote about Jesus in the first century. Those are credible sources. Not much is known, except that he was a Galician who preached in the area of Galicia and Judea and that he was executed. There's virtually no historian today who doubts that Jesus was a real person.

I would like to know what atheism is exactly, what does it stand for, is it all about anti Christianity? I mean, nobody is forcing you to believe it. I have no hate for atheists, I just ask why all the hatred against Christians? I thought atheism was about science and the big bang theory and the evolution theory, why not promote that in some way. If you give Christianity this much attention, it gives me the idea that you are unsure in some way, and you feel insecure about the standpoint of atheism. If you have any desire or curiosity about god, I can tell you the evidence is all around us, the living earth is the dna of god, its in everything, the big bang says the cosmos came from nothing in a giant blast, the scientific theorists believe the galaxy and the universe came from nothing, however that simply cant be possible, If we came from nothing than we wouldn't exist, there would be a lot of destabilization and life could not be supported, this theory seems to contradict science. Because scientifically that's impossible, there would have had to have been a creator who designed everything or something that formed everything, because the way our galaxy is designed is truly astonishing. My point being nothing can result from nothing, a result of something will always be the result of something and it had to have began by something for us to be able to live in a universe as vast and deep as ours. We have seen a consistency throughout our existence that things are created by things and the world works together in miraculous ways. Science merely describes our earth and universe, but it does not answer the big question, where did it all come from, what is its origin. Our galaxy is not the work of a random cosmic explosion that derived from nothing (its impossible), it is the ingenious wonders of a superior being known as god, that caused the creation and the existence of all the things we see in front of us as well as the things we don't see. Just look at the plants that support us and the trees, they all have skin cells which is gods dna imprinted on them, as is ours. We are the cause of something beyond our full understanding, sometimes its ideology that causes us to forget whats really the definite truth about the wonders of the universe no matter who you are, not that science is wrong, there are many scientists that have done wonderful things. Science can definitely support Christianity, its answered the unanswered questions, like the origin of the shroud of turin is now more clear then ever, and the blood traces on the mercy seat are in line with the identity of jesus, he has only 24 chromosomes, the blood confirms the part of his mother's 23 chromosomes, but the chromosomes from his father only show that he has one, that's not humanly possible, we all have 46 chromosomes. One Y from his heavenly father making him a male. I'm just saying that you have to open your mind to why everything is the way it is, our beautiful earth, our glimmering galaxy full of gods cosmic dust, whos to say god is like some mythological deity like zeus, that's just how we as humans can depict him, I truly believe god is not that way, The bible never says he looks human, it actually describes him as light, he actually can come in the form of weather and nature, but the true face of god can only be seen in heaven, an afterlife. Hence we will be rewarded in the end when god gives us another life beyond our very own. If you listen and understand the laws god has given us and if you believe Jesus Christ is our true savior you will inherit the kingdom of god, just not in the way you maybe thinking. Nobody is saying its up in the clouds like the myths of the greek gods. We have no way of truly knowing, but I believe its something most of us could not even begin to expect or comprehend. We're still only human. And no angels do not have halos and they do not have wings like a fairytale, that's how artists depict them, they actually just look like us but with pureness and beauty. I do ask one thing, please don't post these videos promoting hatred against Christianity and other religions as well. I'm just asking nicely, I'm just not the jerk type. I ask you to turn from this. I will say your a funny guy, your really funny, but you could be using your ability to be funny elsewhere other than this. I will always love sinners and non believers, who ever is willing to learn more about god, I will help you understand if you are interested. you came with a question what is atheism, it is not believing in a god or gods which include but isn't limited to the "christian" god. Take any deity from history, it's not real just what some human came up with one day, that's atheism. I must say that Christianity not being forced upon people seems inaccurate albeit no one can truly make you believe in it unless you fall for that kind of stuff somehow. The main thing I'd like to say however is that not one person knows beyond a doubt how everything came to be but that doesn't mean you simply put your faith into an idea and try and pass it off as fact. Plenty of people have told me that religion is about faith and it really is how can you trust what the bible says? sure you can maybe look into some historical facts that might line up with what the bible says but there are plenty of things that don't make sense or just have no scientific validation. Even a fairy tale can have some truths in it, that doesn't make it factual though like how movies say that they were based on a true story. horror movies do that a lot and the true stories particularly with ghosts are actually pretty boring in real life and the movie has few actual facts in it.

The word Atheist comes from the Greek word atheos meaning "without god(s)"(wiki) In school Atheist I was told it is the combination of (A) meaning non and theist meaning someone who believes in theism. Theist is a person who believes in an all powerful, all knowing, all loving god who is everywhere.(the everywhere part may only be part of pantheism ). So athiest = non-theist. From what I can tell "Internet Atheists" are almost entirely anti Christian and against "The Bible". Some are trolls, and some want to try and educate people, but most of the ones I have seen do the educating part in a belittling manner from there high horse. This is all from "my experience" and possibly due to the search algorithm KZbin uses and the popularity of negative people who enforce false dichotomies.

Vincent Lopez The prophecy of the messiah (jesus) was written before jesus even came to be, and that prophecy was fulfilled. The bible is a historical book documenting the accounts of these events, all which I know happened. If it was fake we would've found out by now through facts, but no, no one has proven the inexistence of god (the Christian and Judaism god), because that's impossible as well. We aren't suppose to force people to believe in god, that would be unfair, we do teach people who are willing understand it more. I find it sad that atheism is about hating god, at least according to the amazing atheist, if atheism is someone who doesn't believe, that's fine just don't preach about hating Christianity for no reason at all. Just don't worry about Christianity if you really feel this way, I would encourage people to learn about it, but I cant force you. Atheism isn't really even a thing of its own, all you are saying is you don't believe in god, than fine ok you don't believe it, then whats all this hatred for? Something tells me atheists want to stand for something, but you don't know what that is, so you flock to other atheists comments immediately to back it up without having any valid reason to. The world is increasingly being blinded by the infrastructure of society and the computer screens that sit in front our faces, the cultural influence has hurt this generation, a fraudulent cultural influence that young people will flock to. You can sit here and tell me whats real, but have you left that screen and seen everything that's existed, have you stopped and really thought about the origins of our universe and the sheer beauty of it. If you can tell me god doesn't exist, than I will be amazed, we have a vast universe full of life, it came from somewhere, that I know for sure. We just say the word god, but that's probably not how god thinks of it. We have a human understanding of how god is, we cant possibly see everything from gods perspective. Its not a simple fairytale that someone made up like the children's books your mother used to read you, our the movies in pop culture. Your thinking is there are movies like thor and wrath of the titans, that are similar as far as gods are concerned, but really those have no similarity at all what so ever, there is no comparison. You immediately disregard Christianity because it believes the existence of god, so therefore its just like a fictional movie you've seen or anything this culture classifies as fictional, man really, I guess that's what this culture does to you.

One day I was watching a movie in class that was about Noah or something (I go to a christian school even though I'm not a christian) and a bunch of super natural stuff happened like he stuck a stick in water and the water turned into blood and and then a scene later had frogs and fire balls and bugs rain down from the sky just immediately out of no where and then later these people were chasing Noah but it's ok because apparently a giant flame thrower was just shot from the sky to keep the bad guys away and the whole time I was watching the movie I was thinking to myself sarcastically "THIS REALLY HAPPENED GUYS!!!"

Well as much as you hate it, here's how it works. People love Jesus. People give their lives to God. Nothing else matters to them but God, and Jesus as a portrayal of His love. You don't believe in God / Jesus, whatever, but it doesn't change the fact that they are completely devoted to God. and so *of course* they would love and make a great market for a movie like this. This is what's called a _uniquely closed niche_. Meaning, if you don't like it, and you're not open to it, then don't watch it. That simple. But of course you're gonna actively hate it and make fun of us believers. Honestly, some of us don't mind. Really. :)
