Dante seems to have met most of the big players in the current lore (Silent King, Guilliman, the Lion, the Swarm Lord, and possibly even Sanguinius). Dante really is one of the most important figures for humanity

@@tommyclements7360 Horus feared Sanguinius above the Lion for many reasons, he even feared what a chaos corrupted Sanguinius and Blood Angels legion could do. That's why he had plans for Sanguinius to be part as a Nurgle tainted daemon primarch if Sanguinius were to be corrupted. Of all his brothers, Horus wanted Sanguinius on his side but definitely not as a Khorne follower. What he feared most was a loyal Sanguinius or the potential that the chaos gods would make Sanguinius the chaos undivided Warmaster.

I like that both Guilliman and the Lion acknowledge the age of Dante and can see the weight of that in his eyes. I understand that they were in stasis for millennia, but they are only-what? 400-500 years old physically from the crusades and heresy. It really shows their good character when they can say, "This man has fought, lived and suffered for longer than us and will be seen as an equal."

@@danielquintonvo one of the point of the novel is that Lion knew he sucked as a ruler. He is a great general, but bad at doing ruling, which is why he sent Luther back to Caliban. He has no desire for Dante's thankless job as the Regent. He just wants to kill the enemies of Imperium, albeit the next big threat is Leviathan in Pacificus Segmentum in the western fringe of the galaxy.

I feel like it's poetic that Roboute Guilliman, Lion El'Jonson, and the greatest son of Sanguinius are effectively the only individuals in the entire Imperium that are capable of leading and saving the Imperium, just like 10k years ago when they also tried saving the Imperium in the form of the Imperium Secundus

Commander Dante is over 1500 years old and has served as Chapter Master for over 1100 years. He is the oldest living loyal space marine in the imperium, that isn't entombed into a dreadnaught. He's also Lord Regent of the Imperium Nihilus. Making Dante the effective ruler of the half of the Imperium cut off from Terra on the other side of the Great Rift. He may not be a Primarch, but seen more of the galaxies darkness than anyone else. If only The Lion truly knew who was standing in front of him.

I deem Dante an unofficial primarch at this point. Yeah he was seen as the psuedo primarch but that don’t matter now, one seeing his deeds are absolutely endless to a point it’s impossible to keep a full record of and the other with just a single look knows he’s been through more hell then any other space marine to ever live. On top of that both pretty much view Dante as the closest representation of sanguinius, they might as well say he is one of them

There was a comic that showed Dante without his mask. And he had LOTR Elven hairstyle and it being shown to be jet black. So at least it kind of has consistency. Then there's Ragnar Blackmane who was once Blonde, but since a painter from GW thought the Blackmane referred to his hair and not his Blackmame wolf. His hair got retconned into also being black... maned.

I love the fact that Lion isnt enraged to hear of Gullimans resurrections and defacto running of whats left of the Imperium. He is genuinely happy, despite their past relationship. "I am not alone." hits hard here. Its the revelation that he at least still has one of his brothers has to be the best news he's gotten recently, even if it is the guy who came up with Imperium Secondus, an idea that Lion was. . . less than thrilled about at the time.

@@danielquintonvo Despite being asleep it seems like he has attained some "aged wisdom" with his gray hair. He's a lot more mellow and dignified then in the Horus Heresy I would say. I mean...he's first achivement was reconciling with the Fallen. I'm sure there will be some amusing anecdotes about his actions, the eldar role in his ressurection and the Primaris Marines. I'm sure the Unremembered Empire will prop up again to face them as a scheme to show distrust inside the imperium. Things are a lot more dire then what they faced 10000 years ago, so I just can't see Lion having any problems with Robutes current actions, he's just to grateful. In fact...Robute is pretty daunted and quite uncomfortable with the idea of him calling all the shots...so he might ironically be annoyed by Lion acquiescenance.

We as fans have to be cautious though, there might still be a fight between Guilliman and Jonson. Right now, the Lion is just extremely relieved that there still an Imperium out there to defend and that he is not the only uncorrupted son of the Emperor that still lives. But he might have so issues with how Guilliman has chosen to run things and how he fits into all of it.

God, the guilt and sadness that both Guilliman and Lion felt when they woke up to see what has happened, to know and think that they are the last sons alive hits hard. Hopefully we see a heartfelt reunion between the two. All wrongs of the past, their grudges, be laid to rest in the name of brotherhood and familial bond.

@@danielquintonvo It's funny to think so many thought that Lion and Roboat will fight/ start a civil war.........but the clues were there from the start that it will be a reunion between long lost brothers, I wouldn't be surprised if we get waterworks and hugs. I mean these 2 fought like cat and dog, they certainly weren't close, while Rowbooty Girlymans looked upto the Lion, he also had conflict with him and didn't back down, so they were both headstrong and clashed. BUT that was 10000~ years ago and now they are the only 2 primarchs that are known for sure to be alive and active in the imperium, an imperium that has seen much conflict and pain. I bet they hug it out and sort through their differences, then come to an understanding of where to go from there. Roboute to lead the light side of imperium, Dante to lead the dark side and Lion to be the spear that is directed where he is needed to fight Chaos (and maybe the Tyrannids).

It is so cool to see how the Lion and Roboute share their humanity and show it in open visage. Roboute woke up, saw the state of the Imperium and felt so bad that we cannot imagine it. But he keeps fighting, because he is the only hope for his race and he fights for humanity, however he misses his brothers and feels More depressed every day. This shows his humanity. And here we have Lion himself, enraged and thinking he is the only one alive out of the rest of his brothers. He is the knight, a knight who relies on his brethren to keep himself steady and filled with strength through unity to fight on. This shows his humanity. Lion in here realizes his brother is alive and doing whatever he can to fight the darkness they both faced over ten thousand years ago. It fills him with hope and joy that his brother lives and he knows deep down in his heart that Roboute longs for his brothers. It shows humanity within Lion. As a knight, as a Primarch, these two demigods may look like they are gods incarnate, but in reality..they are as human as your ordinary guardsman, who loves his brothers, who fights with unity and who can feel sorrow and joy. The only difference being, that their physical and mental strength is way stronger than of an ordinary human, but the qualities within their humanity stays the same. Primarch or guardsman, they are different by many points, however their most important part is humanity. And it stays the same.

I do rather like to see that, there has always been a tinge of it in 40k but to get some more of that up front in the lore, in the mainstream stuff is fantastic to see. Part of why I love so much of the HH Primarch stuff is how they consistently show these incredible, awe inspiring Demi-gods to be just as human as anyone, if not more so in some of their more emotional moments. I found this reading to be very moving. Hearing daunte voiced is perfect for the character. Hearing the reaction to the death mask of his brother and the emotion that the lion goes through. very excited to hear more!

I think it is clear that despite their competitive nature seen during the Imperium Secundus period, from how The Lion speaks of his brother Robute Gulliman, there is genuine love for his brother. I'm pretty sure that that love from Robute goes back to the Lion. Cannot wait to see what happens when they meet each other again. The strain of trying to hold the Imperium together and mounting the Indominitus Crusade has been taxing even Primarch Robute. He needs his brothers...

A Thousand Years. Most Primarchs were around 260yo at the time of The Heresy. Most modern Veteran Space Marines are older than the average Primarch, and Dante is 4 times at the age of the Lion. It's interesting to see, how a Primarch returns and sees most footsoldiers around him older than him.

It's so odd yet inspiring to see The Lion look at the state of things and find HOPE. The Imperium is a shell of what it once was BUT it still stands. The Space Marines are less than their full strength once was BUT they endure and serve. The Primarchs are lost or dead BUT they have begun to return. We aren't done just yet.

Could almost feel the burst of joy in his two hearts, upon hearing the good news. I am a little surprised he did not embrace Dante in a bear-hug, and tell the Blood Angels "to bring it in" hugging them all. I know Astartes are quite capable of emotion, I even recall a tale where some Alpha Legion, disguised as Sons of Fenris, saved some locals then partied with them (why? it's the Alpha Legion, they don't even know) They could barely contain their laughter, ergo; they can understand humor. If they can feel that, then they can feel elation and love. The only thing I can see why he wouldn't display such strong emotions would be; Primarch's are wired different... he probably has too much composure for that.

Oh they can absolutely feel emotion! No matter what anyone will say. There are situations such as the Dante excerpt I just uploaded, there's Polux and Dantioch and countless other emotional examples in the texts! I assume this is about the most he reacted just because he is The Lion, he's always been stoic and reserved. I'd almost go as far as to call this an emotional outburst for him aha Thank you for watching!

It reminds me of when Guilliman and the Lion met on Maccrage during the Heresy. Can't remember which book. Lion was ready to kill Guilliman if he had turned. Guilliman wasn't thrilled that it was Johnson that made it through the storm. They came to a mutual understanding but i wouldn't say they established that they really cared for each other. Its nice to see that one of the most reserved primarchs be so happy to know his brother lives.

When the lion reunited with Robute during the heresy, he hugged him so abruptly Guillimen dropped his helmet. This next meeting of the two is gonna be amazing. They did not leave each other on the best of terms, and I could see the lion approaching his brother more conflicted and timid only to have little bro give him the same abrupt helmet dropping hug this time around. Would be an excellent way to bring them full circle.

He watches as his brother did the same, pulling the blue helmet of the ultramarines tight to his side. He bowed his head in acknowledgment as he closed the final few paces between them. There could be no doubt, this was his brother. The Lion could now see the heaviness in his face and eyes. Weariness? Perhaps. This new imperium they have both found themselves thrust into was indeed burdensome place. Or was it weariness of the lion himself. Why him. Why this brother and not another? Why the Lion, the one whom was banished for his secrets. He shook the notion from his mind. They were nearly face to face now, and as ElJhonson prepared to speak, his words became stuck in his throat, he felt a pain in his chest. The pain of regret. The pain of failure. The pain of bonds broken that had not yet been mended. The lion stopped short of his brother. He could see the sadness in Roboute's eyes, but also the fire that only the eyes of a primarch could hold. His mind was now racing, desperately searching for the right words to say, he had never been as good a statesman as his brother for whom these things seem to flow naturally. He feigned a cough as if clearing his throat, now barely holding his classic stoic and aloof gaze that had served him all his life. And then it happend. The great winged helm he held at his waist was now tumbling in slow motion Before him. His brother, without a word or sound, and without even the Lions exemplary reflexes allowed to react, embraced him with such force that this time it was the Lions helm that was dislodged from his grip. He winced at first at the sounds of his helmet rolling and clanking off the ceremite floor, but the strength of the embrace he now found himself in said everything that was needed to be said between them. Relief washed over him, and the Lion replied with an embrace of his own. One befitting a Lion of the first. And as they each pulled back Guiliman smiled for the first time since their eyes met. He looked down at the Lions helmet and bent over to pick it up. As he rose to hand it back to his brother so spoke for the first time. "Your getting slow old man." Said Guilliman with a smirk. The lion roared in laughter, the memory of their last meeting brushing his mind. "Perhaps I am, " he let his response hang..." but I'm still faster than Angron." Robute's face darkened if only for a moment at the mention of his traitorous brothers foul name. Then placing a hand on the Lions shoulder he said " Now that brother, is a story I must hear."

I kinda want Guilliman to have no idea the Lion is alive only for the DA fleet to translate right next to them and for Azrael to hail the Maccragge's Honour and ask Guilliman to speak privately. When Guilliman goes to an antichamber or his quarters to continue the conversation the Lion (whom has forestwalked to the Maccragge's Honour) steps out of the shadows. Taking Guilliman completely off guard, after a moment of silent disbelief he steps foreward and they embrace each other. Maybe a single tear rolls down Guilliman's face as he said something like "I've been alone for so long" idk

I believe that it was in Avenging son in which Robot Girlyman's children see glimpses of his melancholy of being "alone" sometimes maybe during paperwork, routine patrols, speeches. There were times that he will show great longing in his eyes. If he heard the Lion is somehow alive and Uncorrupted. He will make haste. Bobby G ie efficient.

You can tell from the way the book told of the lions reaction he was going through so many thought, the emperium lives, an his brother guilliman the man known for butting heads with the lion and the two always getting into arguments, is alive and he sounds super fucking happy to hear this news after being alone for so long. The thought that all his brothers were dead, lost or turn to chaos with him being the last one. But now he is not alone and from the way game workshop is doing thing it seems more of his brothers are starting to come back slowly.

Soon as I heard the Lion was back, I started wondering if he would take over from Dante as the ruler of Nihlis. It makes sense because it would put him on a similar level to Guilliman. I'm pretty sure he was a bit to be... miffed to find out Robbie is now in charge. Plus he is a warrior, knight and a protector, exactly what Nihlis needs right now.

I think I'd rather see Dante stay as the Lord Regent of the Imperium Nihilis and have The Lion take up a sort of 'warmaster' role (Though, with a different name, of course), to allow Guilliman to stay back concentrate on his administrative duties.
