Fulgrim could of stopped the heresy if he would of just fired on Horus when approaching in the void. He had so much potential (him soloing an eldar dreadnought). Hard to read what happens to him and his greatest son Saul.

The Emperor of Mankind presented on the battlefield and deep in the essence of the never born there courage failed them and terror took them. At that moment when the sun rose in that sunless realm something died in whatever passes for the black harts of those deamons, something that they never realized they had to begin with, that is until the Emperor ripped it away. That being one of the most basic and universal emotions that drives all creation to not only survive but also thrive…hope.

Well if you look into history there were multiple Generals who did such brave acts in battle! Republican Rome’s Generals had a tradition where if the battle wasn’t going in their favor the General would ride to to the front line and crash into the enemy hoping that he would die as a sacrifice for his men to see to make them fight much harder! Also Alexander the Great at the battle of Gaugamela charged his cavalry at straight in the Persian Kings second defensive line and almost got to him to kill but he went back after the King retreated to save his army. So I bet a lot of humans feel that crazy awesome feeling before in reality
