Red handled the situation flawlessly. First, after sensing something was wrong, he dismissed the kids he extracted information from because they were no longer useful to him. Then he confronted his son and let him know, without saying it, that he knew everything: impossible to hide anything from him. Then at the moment he thought he was going to get away with it, Red smashed his only escape route, then ordered him to take responsibility for what he did wrong. Well done, Red. Well done.

Throughout the series, everyone saw Red as an unreasonable hardass who was way too hard on Eric...but in this case he was right. Eric screwed up. He and Donna were starting to become a couple and he nearly threw it away because his hormones were bigger than his brain. He always thought Donna was a nice girl and she didn't deserve to be treated like that..he called Eric on his screw up and told him to go fix it. Red Forman is a good man.
@Sewblon2 жыл бұрын
He handled it well. But not quite flawlessly. He should have pumped Eric for more details and given him more precise instructions than "fix it." He knows that Eric is a dumbass. Telling a dumbass to "fix it" or anything else that vague can easily make things worse. More importantly, he should have made sure that Eric understood and was honest about his own motivations for kissing Katie. If Eric doesn't get why this happened, then it can always happen again.

In hindsight, Eric was often the one likely to stray in his relationship because he was tempted and basked at the glory when girls showed interest in him. Donna never really showed interest in anyone until Casey and was good about turning unwanted attention away, notably Hyde, who was a close friend and a member of the group. That's why it was stupid whenever Eric got jealous of guys coming after Donna, showing he didn't trust her. Meanwhile, she often trusted him, even if he was more likely to cheat.
@American-Zero2 жыл бұрын
Eric's problem is that he's insecure. He always worried deep down that he's not good enough for Donna and someone cooler than him is gonna come along and steal her away form him, so he spent all that time trying to impress her, being what he thought she wanted, such as getting a tattoo...when in reality she loved him for who he is and didn't try and change him. Even when Hyde tried to steal her away from him, she stayed loyal to him...if that's not love, I don't know what is. He should've stopped trying to be someone he's not and just be himself.
@yao0522 жыл бұрын
@@American-Zero he is insecure because everybody tells him he can't do better.

@@yao052 Yeah that is a good point..it didn't help that his so called "friends" (and other times his own family) always reminded him that Donna is nowhere in his league and that she's way too good for him. They were there whenever Eric tried to impress her or showed insecurities that someone was gonna steal Donna from him or doing something to impress her. If they were his REAL friends they would've let him know that Donna loves him for who he is and he doesn't have to try so hard.
