🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅 infinite tomatoes for the better help ad, esp for embedding it in a video where hosts talk about anxiety. Better Help was fined $7.8 million by the ftc for privacy breaches, they shared health information, email addresses and even IP ADDRESSES to outside groups, and lied to consumers about HIPAA compliance. I know it’s an ad an no one is providing medical advice in the podcast but I think podcasts should have to disclose the FTC fines and privacy violations if they’re going to run these ads. If anyone wants to pursue Telehealth for therapy, you can find a qualified therapist who offers a Telehealth option in their regular practice without giving money and risking your privacy with a profit driven app.
@dempos
@dempos Жыл бұрын
It's weird that when you search for betterhelp that doesn't pop up in the initial results or news on google. You have to specify fine or ftc in order for it to show, and not many sites seem to have covered it. Also, it can certainly, hurt and drain the money of people who really need help, if it keeps them from seeking an actual doctor that can take insurance, diagnose conditions and prescribe any needed medications.

An important Italian poet of the 19th century (Giacomo Leopardi) describes the Sunday blues in one on his poems: on Saturdays the village has a festive atmosphere. But the joyful anticipation of Sunday is inevitably destined to disappointment. The poet then makes a general consideration on existence: in life, Saturday represents the illusions of childhood, Sunday represents adult life which coincides with the 'discovery of truth' and the fall of illusions. Sunday blues taken to the next level.

I have the blues all the time. Friday after work I'm like "Thank God" but then the dread starts almost immediately because of all the house chores I have to do because I live in a house all by myself. I end up waking up the next morning not even wanting to get out of bed until like 2 PM. I often wish I could go to bed never wake up. Like, does anybody ever wish they could stay in that dreamless thoughtless void indefinitely? Like I could be in a box going nowhere, just stagnating. Maybe I should restart my antidepressants. (It's been like 5 years and had to quit because it was causing me to have nervous mental downs.)

The elevator thing is somehow wilder in Deep Space 9, where the elevator to the command center had no doors but DID go up and down - but not far enough to be completely out of sight. So you'd begin or end shots with the characters arriving on the command center or going down out of it, but before/after t hose shots they would've been staring at everyone's ankles.

The whole elevator thing is also in video games. Whenever a character is stuck on an elevator or takes too long to walk down a narrow walkway, we know it's because the game is loading, the designers didn't want to put in doors or had no idea how to design the transition to the next room.

I can take this a step further and I can laugh about it now. I couldn't enjoy most of my teenage and early 20's because I had anxiety about dying. Not dying the next day but I knew that one day 50 or so years from now I'm gonna die. I'd literally wake up in the middle of the night thinking about death and what happens and religion and if there is no god what happens. Ironically I never had a "mid-life crisis" and that might be why because I just tortured myself to no end about it. I couldn't even enjoy some of George Carlin's bits because it would freak me out and get me thinking. But today I'm almost 50 and I'm like oh well someday I'm gonna die and it doesn't even phase it's crazy. It just sucks that it ruined me enjoying some of my younger years :(

0:35 instantly remembered that bit when conan was buying sona a new car. When they were browsing the internet and she kept shitting on his various improv attempts then he started to mock the way she shat on his improv. Conan: "..cause im podcasting to billions of people around the world" Sona: "Its not billions"

Happens to me, now. August 1st is when it begins. I love July. July IS summer. And when July is over and August comes around, it feels like we're just going through the motions.
