I've been a musician my whole life, and I think he's the best musician on any instrument that I've ever seen or heard. Ever.

He was a little guy with huge hands with a famous guitar-playing older brother. I saw his brother play before I’d ever heard of Stevie. My brother-in-law went to high school with him and said he took his guitar to school every day and everywhere he went. He’d fall asleep in class from playing in the clubs all night. He was 10 years older than me, but I got to see him play many times. On special nights he’d sort of go into a trance, like here, tap into some source of energy that he could find, and hold on while the music seemed to flow from, around, through him. I’ve never seen anything else like it.

Love Stevie and was fortunate enough to see him live 3 times while living in Texas. Interestingly, while Stevie was growing up listening to the radio he thought the lead and rhythm guitars were played by one person and so he practiced both which I think is evident in his amazing playing style. He is absolutely the GOAT imo, RIP!

If you want to see another performance that will bring you to your feet, watch Jeff Healey and Stevie Ray Vaughan " Look at Little Sister". Jeff Healey was blind and he is the only other guitarist in my opinion who could pretty much hold his own with Stevie Ray. Watching that performance makes you happy that you are alive to witness it. Even if you don't react to it, you should bless yourself and at least watch it. 👌💯💣💥

He never took lessons or learned to read sheet music and just played by ear. He used ungodly thick strings to get the tone he wanted. Watched his brother and blues greats for inspiration and above all just loved playing guitar. Yah... you might say he learned well. He's considered by the best players to be THE GOAT yet was also a humble human being. SRV gone way to soon!

You had to be on your toes playing with Stevie Ray. He went where the guitar took him, and he might not play the same song the same way on different nights. Watch Tommy Shannon, he keeps a close eye on Stevie Ray throughout the performance. The drummer was no slouch either.

He channeled, not played guitar. He made the blues relevant again reviving the forgotten American artform in the 1980's. He raised all ships. Great guy who got taken before he should have.

If you want to see Stevie Ray Vaughan play his guitar with his TEETH, watch " Life Without You "-Capitol Theater. Stevie Ray Vaughan was a guitar savage. In that performance, he plays with his teeth, actually knocks out a tooth, kinda looks around the stage for it briefly, looks over at his keyboard player, laughs and says " it's gone". He keeps singing and playing and never misses a beat the entire time. As soon as the song ends, he reaches up and finally touches his mouth. He used to brake strings all the time. He's got a performance where he has broken strings and he does a guitar switch without even missing a beat in " Look at Little Sister ". You should watch it. It's incredible. I already suggested that song to you, when he's doing it with Jeff Healey. He also does this same song without Jeff. Same song different performance, but both are worth watching. Hell, Stevie Ray was a Jimi Hendrix fan and he does covers of Voodoo Child that will blow your mind. There are several different versions of him doing Voodoo Child. He never played a song the same way twice, so each performance is unique and special unto itself. He had a rare talent of being able to play both lead and rhythm guitar parts simultaneously. He was a Texas treasure and you'll never see anyone else like him. His brother, Jimmie Lee Vaughan is also a Texas guitarist who often played with Stevie Ray. He is not Stevie Ray's caliber in my opinion, but he's pretty good and does a great tribute song to Stevie Ray. You may want to check him out too. 😘🥳

I always thought there were two lead guitarists playing like him and his brother Jimmy when it was Stevie playing two parts. No one like him. He had a bass player and drummer and that’s it for this song. He died in a helicopter crash and like Kobe, we lost a giant!

I love that you said the guitar is singing for him. Few people can make the guitar do that the way he does. Have you checked out BBKing? He also has conversations with his guitar. My favorite is the story of Lucille, his guitar.

You picked a good starter for the blues guitar entry. Most might have suggested Pride and Joy. (There is a Pride and Joy Texas Flood mashup). Also he has collaborated on so many other pieces of music.

I don't recall who wrote this song at the moment, it's an old Blues song about a man having woman problems and she refuses to speak with him.

What's up with KZbin's arbitrary censorship policies. Do they flip a coin to decide who can post copyrighted material and who cannot? Kinda chicken §hiT..
