I think the reason why this song is so somber is BECAUSE it's the song of healing. When you think healing you usually think of something warm or happy. But healing takes time, healing requires letting go. Healing can mean putting everything behind you and sifting through all the pain in the hopes of peace. Healing doesn't always mean recovering... but maybe just being at peace. With yourself, with your feelings, with your pain. But maybe it is ultimately recovery? For through letting go you have finally been healed, you're finally reverted and at peace. You've accepted your fate. Sorry for the spiel... I just think this song holds a lot of meaning in majora's mask xD.
@peach66484 жыл бұрын
the reason healing is so bittersweet is because in order to heal something, you must acknowledge that it’s been hurt. majora’s mask is regarded as a rather dark game, but the reason it works so well is because all the darkness ends in light. pamela’s father being turned into a monster was horrifying, but then he was healed and they hugged each other. darmani and mikau died, but link brought peace to their souls, and before passing on, they remembered the good times they had with their friends. link was turned into a deku (one who died...) but he is restored to normal and is seen waving goodbye to the deku butler’s son. skull kid was possessed and did some horrifying stuff but was reunited with his friends, who forgave him. termina was in grave danger, but everyone is happy at the end in a world at peace. all of these beautiful moments, at their resolution, are both happy and sad, making them incredibly powerful. this is how a ‘dark’ story should be told, not something dark merely for the sake of edginess, but rather for contrast and resolution.

THIS COMMENT IS SO UNDERRATED BUT FOR WHAT- Like honestly I don’t get it, it points out the truth behind healing. Everyone does associate healing with positivity because they only thing of the outcome of it, instead of the process. Healing is a process, to be healed is a completely different experience. The song of healing is for being healed, where in that process it’s like having to admit what you are fixing was broken to begin with. Most people don’t want to admit that by being healed you were once in a position where you were unhealthy or injured, or even just in a state that is broken. Healing is not just fixing physical wounds or damage, there is also emotional and mental healing (which I feel was mentioned and shown a lot in this game). But even then, all these forms of healing require the strength to admit that whether physically, mentally, or emotionally, you were broken, and now you’re in a process of getting better. Or even helping someone you know get better too, it’s all a slow and sometimes melancholy process of having to wait, and spend time to let yourself have a moment where you can reflect and admit and come to terms with everything that happened at your own pace. It’s not just a happy and quick process of “oh I was hurt but I’m healed up now!”, it’s a period of time where you have to realize that bad things have happened to you, and you can’t fix it and pretend it never happened or go back in time and prevent it from happening to you, it’s accepting that what’s happened has already happened, and the most you can do is accept it and learn to grow from it and heal. Bad things will always happen, no matter who you are or where you’re from, but you can always heal from it and go on into tomorrow knowing that you’re more ready than you were before for the future.

"Somber" is the adjective that I feel best describes the overall atmosphere and tone of Majora's Mask. This composition is the aural embodiment of everything that this game evokes within me.

Nope. Darunia and Mikaelu (I think that's how it's spelled) were my favorites. That said, I vastly preferred the use of the Song of Storms. The new segment added at 2:10 is nothing short of genius. It flows seamlessly with the rest of the composition and is every bit as effective at conveying its somber tone as the main chord progression we've all come to know and love. You have a gift for hearing the music of another composer and reinterpreting it in creative new ways, all the while remaining true to the spirit of the original. I look forward to hearing more of your work.

A young boy who has played OoT, and every other Zelda game that exists, countless times since being introduced to the game suddenly tests positive for the Covid-19.... While being treated, he vows to listen to this song on replay until he becomes healed through the power of the notes. Coughing as he envisions The Hero of Time playing this song for him at the foot of his hospital bed. Drawing courage and strength from the one dressed in green. Bravery like he’d never felt before. He envisions Navi, so bright and beautiful as she circles around his monitors before softly floating around his head. Closing his eyes as the nurses and doctors bustle around him, he offers everyone all at once, and no one at all, a small smile of content. For he can feel it! He can feel himself being healed. He can hear the hospital workers fading away, while the healing song’s notes become louder. He opens his eyes now... Sitting above him on a tall stump, in the middle of an open forestry place, mystical sun rays shining upon him like a spot light, is the Hero dressed in green. Smiling at him lovingly. Next to him sitting crossed-legged on another tall stump, is a Skull-like kid, dressed in what seems like scarecrow attire. And finally a Korkiri girl with green hair standing below them laughing at something the Skull Kid did. He walks toward them,, breathing in the thick woods and brush all around him. The Skull kid stands, dancing with joy at the sight of the boy. Saria turns to him, slowly walking towards him with open arms. Taking his hands into hers before giving him a tight hug, “Hello sweetie! Welcome to the Lost Woods! We’ve been waiting for you!” The boy breathes in amazement, “It’s so beautiful here!” The Hero nods his head in agreement. “Are you ready to get lost with us?” Saria asks gently, her eyes bright and luminous. The Skull Kid smacks his butt mischievously, a beaming smile playing under his mask. “I was born ready.” The boy whispers more to himself than anyone else. The Hero rises to his own feet, their eyes connecting in a way the boy never experienced before. And without another second wasted, the Hero backflips off the tall stump, the Skull Kid laughing in hot pursuit, as the boy runs adventurously through the two tall stumps alongside Saria, determined to follow them to the end of time! ................. My thoughts for the night, amidst the chaos of today. The legends reign supreme in so many hearts even to this day... If only this song could truly heal... Perhaps things would be better. Healing Song... Won’t you heal us?

I miss my Grandpa. He died when I was 7. I know ur pain. It really hurts for a long time and u go through 5 stages. 1st stage is denial. 2nd stage is anger 3rd stage is bargaining 4th stage is depression And The 5th stage is acceptance From what I can tell is u might be on stage four. I’ve been there. A whole bunch of us have been there. We know how it feels. I hope that one day that we can share feelings and have people be understanding and not negative. Cause people who are struggling can’t truly handle negativity. It will stick with them until they open up and talk to somebody they trust. I know it hurts, but I tell u, I was browsing KZbin last year on the anniversary day when my Poppy died, trying to help myself feel better, when I found this song. I felt peace and started crying out of happiness because of the sweet release. Basically, my advice for dealing with loss is to, just, don’t be scared to open up to someone you trust and if that doesn’t help, listen to music to calm ur self down after a crying session so u can get some sleep. Ur still here? WOW!! That was unexpected. Anyways, thx for reading if u did

I remember losing Zelda to the Crystal to keep back Demise. I remember being a golden wolf TEACHING MYSELF! I remember having to part ways with Midna, having to reset the timeline over and over and over while Anju and Kafei embraced each other into a firey oblivion. I remember when Navi....left. I remember the moon and Majora. Zant and his madness and each time I get re-incarnated I'm never allowed a normal life. Just like Demise said so long ago, I'm cursed to always "wade through an ocean of blood". And if I tell Zelda or Impa or whomever is accompanying me? They'll forget the next life I find them. That's why I cherish this blade so dearly." (Almost reverently he holds the Sword of Evil's Bane across his lap) "I can't hear her voice anymore...yet I know Fi is still there. She's one of the reasons I don't crack. Because without her, I'm alone, repeating through time fighting a being who isn't even a man anymore. Just a pitiful mass of Malice."
