In this crisp clip from the 1946 banned film, ‘Song of the South’. We see Johnny get tricked into going back home by uncle Remus who wants the best for him. Johnnys mother finds out uncle Remus had lied to her about Johnny’s intentions and gets upset with him.

I have such love for this movie the nostalgia it gathers up within my sould is such a wonderful .. welll it just gives me the feeling of being a child at home safe warm and content... i love itso much. And i did sing the little tunes to my son as nursery rhymes and bed time tunes when ge was very little. Its a movie that is so so close to my heart. ❤❤❤❤❤

I never saw this movie before only clips of uncle Remus singing Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah… I think I’m about 15 mins in and I’m completely at a loss to understand what the problem with the movie is. Other than being kind of a dumb storyline isn’t it for kids? The characters are adorable they talk the way they talk. Animals are making funny voices I don’t understand why they’re stopping this man’s family from getting royalties? It’s late but I’m gonna watch the whole thing later and it’s a horrible feeling to feel like you absolutely MUST watch it now because for all you know it’s gonna be gone tomorrow because of these mind games everybody’s playing.

Because I plays in the time of slavery and never pick up that theme. Even bader it naturalizes it by just accepting the position of the characters. Watch the clip before when uncle Remus starts the story "Back in the days it was wonderful or sth like that''. I understand the argument that this is for kids a.s.o but the thing is that the film try to stay harmless. It's hard to accept for some people that their favorite movies are ideologies but especially on Disney movies are full of conservative, monarch ideologies.

Other ideologies: Why does most of the black people stays in background or for example uncle Remus doesn't take a step on terrace. Why does the camera look down on the black people? Why are the black people always happy and playfull, childish, sometimes a little bit stupid? There is also a strikt hierarchical structure between blacks and white. The black has to serve, have to solve the problems of the white people aso Hope it see the critical point of view.

I have seen this movie many times since I was a child. I defy anyone to prove to me it is racist! There are so many lessons about life and common sense. I think Disney should get the stick out of their butts and grow up!
