Love how the black kid trips and falls and nobody seems to care. The kid handled it like a pro though.

Disney should’ve done two versions, one with Uncle Remus, and one with just the animated parts.

The animated segments were always my favorite parts of the Song of the South film. Maybe if the whole film was animated under a different title with just Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear as the main characters and were still voiced by the same people (Johhny Lee, James Baskett, Nick Stewart), Splash Mountain would probably still be opened at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World to this day instead of being replaced by Tiana's Bayou Adventure and wouldn't be considered racist and the ride's animatronics probably would've been updated.

It was actually going to be that way but Walt wanted to save money.

Here's my take: i know this movie got in huge trouble because he was supposed to be a black man working on a plantation. And people got mad because people feel it's sugar coating how bad plantations were back then. But here's the thing, i don't think that's what was supposed to be gotten out of this. What i see is a jokly old man who in even dire situations, in a place he's struggling, he's optimistic and positive on his outlook on life and finds solis in what he has. I think more people should strive to be like that. I personally think everyone took it the wrong way and gang hated this movie because of that.

You think if the movie only has live action bits in the beginning and end and the rest just animation, the movie could’ve been sparred?

Honestly, if the Disney company really wanted to keep this film relevant or in the public conscious, they would've just made an edited version minus the Uncle Remus bits. Maybe even produce two versions so the people could choose.

The stories of Uncle Remus are the proud heritage and culture of the African Americans. They stories were brought over from Africa. It good that Joel Chandler Harris wrote them down and now all Americans can enjoy them.

When I was kid uncle Remus would put me to bed. Some really good wisdom in the stories, bare rabbit wants to run away from his problems but as Uncle Remus says theres not a place that far. There are people in this world that want to do you harm. You have to keep your wits when dealing with them. Don’t get needlessly offended, always works against you. Some problems get bigger the more you mess with them. I’m older now but grew up in the south. The ways these folks looked and talked was almost exactly as they are portrayed, it was a reality not a racist stereotype. It endeared me to them with deep respect due to the wisdom of Uncle Remus.
