I envy your experience of getting to listen to The Chameleons for the first time. For me, this was about 35 years ago. They've been a top 5 band ever since, and possess a magical quality that no other band does. A single listen through Script of the Bridge is better than any hour of therapy I've ever spent money on.

This song was recorded (1983) before the songs you were trying to find a comparison (Echo and The Church). Killing Joke is the name of a band that has some similarities. Killing Joke has some great albums and tracks. I recommend to listen to Killing Joke Night Time album. I believe the Chameleons played shows with Killing Joke. This Chameleons album Script of the Bridge is a masterpiece of work. Thank you for doing this reaction video.

I had to buy the cassette get it cassette. this album itself has a lot of nostalgia memories when I was in my 20s I turned my friend Jon onto it and he fell in love with the band. We did see them in New York City. It’s a shame and my heart goes out to the band that they never received the recognition that they truly deserve Mark.

The band is really significant and substantial for what they brought to culture. This album is really solid with a similar feel, but never hits as hard as the title track, which I count as one of the best all-time songs for the reasons you touched on. You'll also make your way to Swamp Thing as well, which is iconic in a slightly different way. I haven't heard these two post punk bands mentioned in your vids yet, but definitely check out The Fall and Bauhaus. The Fall can get really zany, chaotic, and messy at times, but most of their earlier albums have some really interesting work. Bauhaus is just legendary with great vocals and instrumentation over their short career.

Hi Alex. Post punk? I think you'd like The Comsat Angels. They have been described as the greatest unknown band. Signed originally to Polydor, their first 3 albums Waiting For A Miracle, Sleep No More and Fiction are regarded as their best work. They were exceptional. Heralding from Sheffield they were exceptional. They toured with U2 in their very early days. Bono said their music had " a terrible beauty" about it. Very true.
