Their record label wanted them to put out a heavy metal song that could be played on radio . Tool gave them Ticks and Leaches with 2:30 of dead air and a big FU lyrics! Liked and subbed.👍

Yes, and that 2:30 of dead air is why I no longer have Ticks & Leeches on my play list.

@areliablesource28484 жыл бұрын
@@HandyMan657 Oh Patrick, the "explanation of any songs lyrics"; for the most part, depends on the person that doing the listening. For example. for myself, Ticks and Leeches is more about an ex-girl friend I had in college. She was what I referred to as "a wild one". She preferred oral sex, very intense oral sex, that seemed to go on for hours. So, you see, Ticks and Leeches has, for me, a deeply personal meaning that invokes some very fond memories for this 68 year old man.

I love the powerful explosion after that though, Danny killn it, great riff and Maynard screaming his head off 🤟

Interesting how you threw her straight into the TOOL deep end. With Rosetta Stoned being the first.
@gurglinghermits30434 жыл бұрын
i’ve always kinda disagreed with the idea that there’s a tool deep end or shallow end. it’s more about which musical sounds and compositions the person is accepting of. and i don’t see why Rosetta is considered the deep end when comparatively it’s probably easier listening than some of their other stuff

This is my calming song. This first bit gets the raw aggession out. The middle is calming soothing. The last bit is were you let go of what irks you, leaving you satisfied.

Ahh Tools infamous FU to the record label. Lyrics were wrong by the way... it's "My Fruit is bruised and borrowed" not "my friend". Fruit referring to the industry sucking his creativity and selling it

I think this song is more about the musically challenging instrumental parts more than the lyrics, that's my own interpretation of it at least. The drums on this one are completely nuts!
@garrettgearhart61234 жыл бұрын
This song hints at psychic vampires and the Archons of the Gnostics.... as well as them putting out something heavy for the industry. This whole album is religious themed
@bigfatambition3 жыл бұрын
i cant help but think this song is now perfectly directed towards mainstream media. Even though Maynard put this together 20+ years ago, today its perfect and on point.

I love when new fans start saying things like, “it went by so fast” or “that’s it” only to realize they just listened to a 10 minutes + song.
@anthonymichel46604 жыл бұрын
This track is probably my favorite Tool song. Word has it I'm not sure if it's true, the record company wanted Tool to write a more heavy and less meditative type style that the band is known for. He's basically calling the music industry ticks and leeches.. great choice well done.

The Lateralus album was done and the record executives said it needed something more angry like their previous albums. Also the long interlude in the middle made the song unplayable on the radio.

7empest; would be nice to see your reaction and discussion to this one please and thank you kindly. Also, question, which Tool song so far has made you feel the strongest, what did you feel, and why did it do this to you? ~QGJ
@initum15994 жыл бұрын
(him speaking) I would be reluctant to name just one song, I found out that depending on what happens in my life, different tool songs impact me differently. If I were to name just one though, it probably be parabol and parabola. It's weirdly euphoric but not in common way. It makes me aware of fragility but somehow makes that fragility a strength. Hard to describe but I am suspecting you might know what I mean. Another one for me would be fear innocuoulum (partially because of waiting for it that long)

The drumming in this one are the saving grace. Otherwise it's a troll song and as such it's not very good. It is a fun listen and can be a good 'blowing off steam' song but it really doesn't fit with the rest of the album (masterpiece) that its on. It's very clear that it was tacked on and stands out like a sore thumb.
