~The "Glass Shatterers!" series focuses on sopranos who sustain High F, or sing higher.
Of course I had to include a solo featuring Natalie Dessay in this series -- and luckily I found a delectable one in my collection that is not already posted to KZbin! Here's a rare capture of a very young Dessay in a live performance of Delibes' almost never-heard comic opera "Le roi l'a dit." This performance in Nantes in December 1990 when Dessay was just 24 years old. She is singing the leading soprano role of Javotte in this forgotten gem, which is written quite high and showy by Delibes -- but of course, Dessay interpolates her trademark thrilling acuti including two High F-sharps. The three selections are:
Act I Waltz finale: "La maison s'emplira d'allegresse"
Act II Aria: "Quelle indulgence!" (High F#)
Act III Finale: "Bonjour, bonsoir" (High F#)
