Fun fact, Sseth's money glitch is actually less messed up than its closest IRL equivalent. Between the 14th and 15th Century, the Aztecs fough a war against a confederation led by the city of Tlaxcala, and, while the Aztecs won and conquered the confederation, they left the Tlaxcatecs untouched. Then, rather than conquer them, the Aztecs did something more insidious, and fought "Flower Wars" against Tlaxcala in regular intervals, so they could capture their warriors, and drag them off as human sacrifices for their gods. This got so bad, that, when the Spanish Conquistadors under Hernan Cortes showed up, the Tlaxcaltecs offered them their assistance in their fight against the Aztecs. In essence, the Aztecs did what Sseth did, but for blood sacrifices, instead of money.

This game is truly a hidden gem and I'm glad it finally got the recognition it deserves. It's interesting how Sseth's playthrough seems to be completely different from mine. My first two serious games, I tried diversifying the economy and build everything myself, only to realize that I don't have enough people to maintain my new industries. This sent me into a death loop of me needing more people to help the diverse economy, me getting new immigrants to fill that gap, then my other industries such as food production not being large enough to support the new population. People started starving, rebellions took place, and by the end I had managed to stabilize food production, but now I had no people to man the huge cities infrastructure necessities. Everyone was spread out, everyone was unhappy, and now everyone was rebelling again. My second run went much better as I decided to stick to a humble farming and ranching town. I sold the excess food and meat to my neighbors and started buying the things I didn't have, while still making a profit. I experimented and found out that a heavily equipped, well trained standing army is a much better alternative to a poorly equipped and armored but numerically big militia. (Side note, if you make a militia, your pops will die during battles and that same militia is meant to be making your food and working your industries, so be careful!). My small but professional army easily beat any threats and potential invaders, while taking minimal losses. tl;dr check this game out. Sseth didn't mention it, but the demo is the full game, just a few versions behind the main build. Not sure if you want to buy it? Try the demo out first.

I could go on for hours about how fun SOS is, but instead ill give you all a story about one of my funniest moments in game. To set the stage, this took place on my second most recent playthrough back in patch .64, and was the playthrough where i felt like i had finally understood the game. I manipulated the trading and world map economy so much that i could print any resource in the game to such a degree that nothing even mattered. I had 10000 people, all living in utopia with every need met and was quickly working to my end goal of total map conquest. At this point, everything was smooth and i barely did anything besides reprint blueprints to grow the city for more soldiers and researchers. All was well. Which was why i was somewhat surprised when i started getting mass deaths in my capital. A few people dying in a brawl was not uncommon, but this quickly rose to 10 and drew my attention. Upon looking, i found that it was not brawls, but people being mauled to death. After spending a minute or two find what was wrong, i found the source of the disaster. A smilodon, basically a sabretooth tiger, had somehow managed to enter into the very heart of my city, gotten into my massive colosseum while it was in the middle of an event being attended by hundreds of spectators, and was in the process of killing them all one by one. Of course, I naturally tried to kill the rampaging beast with my army by forming one of my fully equipped and max trained melee infantry squads and putting an end to it. This is when I realized the error of my ways. Armies do not attack wild animals. they are a resource, not an enemy, and as such will only be killed by a hunter from a hunter job building. Of which I had none. I had basically killed all the wild animals on my map quite long ago and torn them down to make room for more useful stuff. Except for this cat apparently, which had lived on the edge of the map all alone for my entire playthrough, before I inadvertently awoke the beast by building a road towards it's home. It had killed one worker for getting too close to it, then immediately hopped to the next, leaving a scattered trail of corpses all the way from the edge of my map into the very center. All I could do was watch in horror as it slaughtered my people while i desperately built multiple small hunting rooms to try to kill it. over 100 died by the time they did. This event singlehandedly lowered my cities happiness enough that it caused a rebellion that led to the death of over 1000 people. A single cat killed over 10% of my world spanning empires capital in one day. Truly the best game of all time and i highly recommend it

There's a noticable amount of Dutch names in the place names; 'Tegenaanval' 0:53 means 'counter attack', and 'Nieuwpand' 13:01 can be translated as 'new house'. Honest opinion, the developer is brilliant. I bought this game well into early access and had an issue. Posted about it on the Forums and then got a message to share my replay with him. He took a look at it and told what I was doing wrong. That is an insane level of support.
