yes, great info. well done and clear video with no annoying background sounds/noise. yay! I am now submitting all my info and making these monetization selections today for an upcoming single. this is the first time I'm using them (used cd baby for all my other bands singles, albums etc) so this is an adventure and hope it turns out great. I like the idea of having licensing opps right there and the possibility of someone wanting to use our music in major productions or projects etc. curious, do you all check every platform on the distribution form such as Tidal, Amazon etc.? the form for submission was a little more complicated than I'm used to but got a real person to email me and help with the process. (they don't do phone customer service fyi)

Wow I like that finally someone made a video about songtradr and going in depth on its usefulness and how to better exploit its functions
@MakeMusicIncome3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Justin. I feel like a lot of these libraries and websites need to be explained by people who have used them for a while. And I think they are going to work differently for everybody. Some people are going to get huge licenses off Songtradr, and some people are going to get a little bit of money from business overhead. But yeah, like you I have not seen any videos that really went into detail about some of these pretty cool opportunities. And the Distribution is not bad for an add on service.

I fully agree that content id tends to cause problems with licensing. From a other perspective, as a beatmaker it is really helpful because it's unfortunately completely normal that artists/rapper try to steal your beats/songs.

I don’t see an option for a free account currently. The Lite version is listed at $19 per year.
@MakeMusicIncome Жыл бұрын
Yes, unfortunately this has changed. At one time there was and apparently I was grandfathered in. I have considered paying the $49 fee since it would up how much I make there by 20% which would be more than the $49 fee. But if you are just starting with not much catalog I would suggest the lite version.

Hi Eric :) We're just wondering how you go about setting higher prices for TV/film licenses on Pond5, like how you mention at 18:32. Don't suppose you could give us a quick tip? We've emailed Pond5 about it but they didn't really answer our question. Our guess is that it's by setting our tracks to 'Let Pond5 Set Our Prices' but no one has confirmed this. Also, just as a side question, have you used the Let Pond5 Set Our Prices option in the past and if so, how have you found it? Does it mostly set the prices too low? Eg $5 as an average? Thanks!
@MakeMusicIncome2 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure you get that option at Pond5. I know you do at AudioJungle.
@starlingmusicltd99182 жыл бұрын
@@MakeMusicIncome Thanks Eric! Having looked into it further, it looks like you can get higher license fees based on what sort of subscription the buyer is using, however you're not able to set these higher fees your self. A premium license will double the fee you charge and a business license will increase it even more.

What cut do they take from content ID? Do they give you 100% with the pro plan? I'm trying to find the best platform for content ID, do you have any suggestion? for example I like that soundcloud has a cool interface to handle all the claimed videos, but they charge 8$/month and they also take 20%. Distrokid: 5$/year per song, no interface, they take 20%.
@MakeMusicIncome Жыл бұрын
Absolutely recommend Identifyy. Just had a $500 payment yesterday. All those other places focus on many things. Identifyy focuses on ONE thing: your content ID. They take 30% but I think it’s worth it.
@42isTh3Answ3r Жыл бұрын
@@MakeMusicIncome I watched your video about them, my main problem is that they don't have a dashboard to handle all the claim and that it takes 3 months to see the stats. But the video is from last year so maybe they changed some stuff now?
@MakeMusicIncome Жыл бұрын
Again I just don’t think they have the time to chase all that info since they do so much and just purchased Bandcamp? Definitely NOT focused on content Id

Does it have anything similar to legacy on DistroKid? What happens to songs distributed when a person moves on to the light?

Paypal. In most of these you keep up taxes as an independent contractor like any music gig.

Can you tell me what Genre sells well for you on all stock libraries because as a super newbie I don't want to make music that's not selling. Appreciate the videos you make.
@MakeMusicIncome Жыл бұрын
Well, I would imagine the best selling music on stock. Music libraries is going to be corporate music in some form. Now that could take on many different styles, including rock, pop, Lofi, just a myriad of things. The best way to know what is popular on any library at the time is to look at the most popular downloads of that library. It’s not often that you find one song that goes great across all of them.

Does every song need an album cover image? How do you handle the songs that you don’t have an album cover/image?
@MakeMusicIncome2 жыл бұрын
I would get in the habit of just having a an image for every song across your catalog. In fact I make a 3000x3000 image then resize to 1000x1000 and 80x80 for every song. You’ll need the 3000x3000 for putting the song to some sites like Jamendo, or if you release to distribution (Spotify, Apple, etc). And by the way you can do that free with Songtradr. But if you use other sites like Vfine, or Motion Elements you will want the 1000 pixel and AudioJUngle wants a 80x80. So I just get in the habit of making them for each song. They can just be a free image you find off Pixabay or Unsplash.

If you license your music to stock music is it less likely to land big sync or network tv?

What is your opinion on submitting your music to multiple music licensing companies?
@MakeMusicIncome2 жыл бұрын
If you are talking stock libraries then the prevailing thought is to submit all your Non Exclusive material to ALL of them. Something like Songtradr is not as much a library but a licensing company. Any RF songs can go there too.
