fun fact these albums is when she finally took more control in the way her music is made and which song get released (expressing more of her true self), before these album her studio was forcing her to release songs that she didn't like and try to force her to make songs that are fit for the radio(conqueror is an example). Her studio also made her do a ridiculous amount of concert 200 or so in 3 years which cost her to lose sleep and eventually made her depress.

Yeah, OK. I don't think you should ever watch "Daydreamer" Live at HAIK. I think you would actually explode. Thanks for another wonderful video about Aurora's album, it's so enjoyable to see your insight into an artist I love so much :D The music her and Magnus produce is amazing. Silja just left (you'll know if you check out the live performances) and i dare not even think about what could happen if Magnus left :S The song you couldn't understand, Soulless creatures, my own interpretation is her singing from the PoV of Mother earth, telling humans we are disgusting. How we have treated our planet its not untrue though is it :-/ Tears in bottles is the followup of an unreleased song called "in Boxes" its her singing from the perspective of a woman she was scared of as a child. Her imagination immediately went to Serial killer" :P I Like "in Boxes" over "in Bottles" but thats my opinion. And yes, I'm an Aurora, but now that you just finished the albums I'm gonna subscribe in the hope you will do some of her live performances ^^ Take care, stay safe bro :)

In Boxes actually was released, its one of the 6 songs from Running With the Wolves EP from 2015, and yeah, In Bottles is another serial killer song lol, i like them both but In Boxes wins my vote. Under Stars from that EP is still my favorite song though, but that's probably partially because I discovered her through that song at the end of Mass Effect Andromeda.

It's so good watching you and hearing your impressions of the album! I really love the Daydreamer song, and it was nice knowing your understanding of the lyrics, I have understood it's message a little diffrently, like she's talking about us humans always having our busy lives, working our asses and having superficial relationships, so busy we don't even have time to dream big, to have true and meaningful relationships. Either way it has such a beautiful message ♥

Love your reactions! She talked a lil' bit about A Different Kind of Human (the track), and it's based on that typical phrase people use to say, when a loved one, or young one is taken too early from this world. She likes to imagine as if a mothership comes and takes that person, as if they're too pure to be here, and take them home, to a better place.

soulless creatures is definitely one of those songs that needs time to grow on you, and get better and better with time. At least for me, it has slowly sneaked itself up into my all time favorites. For me soulless creatures is very much about someone that has been disillusioned with the world, someone giving up on the human race. For me the lyrics that really hits are; i wouldn't mind if i can't save our kind, all the pieces of my body is gone, every piece i've lost i've loved, i've got pieces of your hate in my soul, look at me now i'm falling apart in daylight. These all seem to tell the story of someone being hurt so much, that they say no longer care about humans. but realizing this just hurts themselves more, that they absorbed the hate they received and now have a choice to make - continue to spread the hurt to lessen the pain in the moment, or accept the pain as part of you but use it to hopefully prevent harm in the long run. i also get some definite anti-capitalism vibes from soulless creatures especially when you add hunger to the mix. although i can't quite put my finger on why so it might just be projection on my part. and i really just want to send love to you for being so authentically you and emotional i think aurora would definitely approve, and know a lot of people appreciate it.

I'm rewatching your reactions of aurora's albums and something dawn on me with your comment about how this first songs it's about aurora being that emotional guide as she in IOADK was about being the person to give a place to belong, what made me think was that the first song of each album of aurora give us the peak onto what are going to experience in the album... with the first one: runaway literally go away/heal and find your home, and the album being about dealing with your demons and learn from them and embrace them (finding home) IOADK :queendom offering a place to belong for those who are not accepted by society, the silent ones the weird ones and the album being about that, and to transform inside of us into what we really are no matter what the outside world want us to be ADKOH: the river about embracing your emotions and not just accepting them withing you but to be free to let them be seen it's OK to present to the exterior who you are once you change and accepted withing you and the album being about changing the world around us and be a different kind of human that are not afraid of feel their emotions and want a different world TGWCT: being fruits of eden/everything matters I think for this one fruits of eden it's more about setting the perspective and everything matter about how each little think it's important and spirituality its not just about godly things but everything that might be conceder mundane its what actually define us as humans and how we were trying to only get absolution and aceptence of a God that punish us for what defined us as a person, our way of love ect. finding "gods" or spirituality in tangible things and emotions I don't understand how after all this time there is always new things to discover from her work, new interpretations etc, I honestly think that for each album of her you can make an essay and even then you wouldn't grasp all the meanings in it

And I'm sure someone else has mentioned this already, but the song "A Different Kind of Human" is my personal favorite of ALL Aurora songs, and it's because the meaning behind it. Aurora has said that this song specifically is about young ones losing their lives, those who are too pure and innocent for this world are taken young before they become more infected by this earth. I've experienced this kind of loss and when listening to this song... it brings me comfort like nothing else can. "But you are pure and we have to get you out of here...." i love aurora's music, because everyone can interpret it in their own way and i think that's super cool :) soulless creatures is def my favourite song on the album and you asked for interpretations so here's mine. i think it's from a perspective of someone who gave too much. it feels like they tried to save "our kind", make the world a better place, but then they realised it's pointless ("like laying a seed within the dark" - the seed obviously won't grow) i feel like the pre chorus isn't from their pov and it tells us what they gave up for the world "piece of their heart" - their love and emotions, and "piece of their hands" as in their work, their physical body. that's what the "both sides of me" mentioned at the end of the song might be. the physical and the emotional side. in the chorus we can see the disappointment and hopelessness. they gave up everything and they don't care anymore. they are waiting for the world to change and for the sun to rise again (come, my wonders, after dawn restores) which can obviously be interpreted as better times coming. don't know what the last two lines of 2nd verse mean tho. "listening to the deep magnetic sound / hunting for a victim, lying down". is the victim lying down? are they the victim? what is the sound? i guess only aurora knows "come back to me after peace restores / soulless creatures" i think soulless creatures might be humans in this case. the lyrical subject is tired and want to rest and want to come back to the world once there's peace, it comes back to the beginning of the 2nd verse. they also seem to have some bad experiences with humans in general. even the beginning suggests that ("never knew what's love if kept inside"). they've got memories and pieces of hate in their soul, marks from others (i like how aurora makes the difference clear between "soulless creatures" and the narrator who has pieces of hate in their SOUL). the end suggests that they will keep trying tho. because they "gave both sides of them" and later she sings that they're still doing it, still giving. i don't know if it makes sense, im sorry if it doesn't lol. i love this song, but its so full of pain and heartbreak that i just want to cry when i listen to it. i recommend listening to under stars and to be loved by her, both great songs with cool lyrics who don't really get that much attention because they're not on any of the albums or eps. they are some of her most emotional songs tho, at least in my opinion, and both heartbreaking as well, but it's kinda a norm when it comes to aurora's music haha

If you like lyrics, I'd like to suggest *The Warning's* Queen of the Murder Scene. It's a concept album, with all 13 songs tracing the descent of a girl from love to obsession, stalking, murder -- and then the real battle begins, the battle for the girl's soul, between her good and evil sides. Dust to Dust is the intro, with the drummer singing lead while drumming furiously. BTW, this band is 3 sisters, all of whom were in their teens when this album was released. I'd recommend the concert at Lunario, and all of their music is available on their YT channel.

Actually, The River is about holding emotions in and not allowing yourself to let go of the ones that hurt you. Instead, you cut them off before they even have a chance to grow, because it’s too painful to let them out. As you see, she has scissors in the room and in the water. The room is a confined space and holding in those emotions are making her react in ways not good and leads to even more pain ( depression). Moving water always represent life in art, especially moving water because it’s not lingering in stagnant places, but moving firmly on its way, rolling over obstables, adapting to things in its path by changing its own shape. There is a saying that water will find its level however or wherever it flows. Crying as the river passes by is a letting go if emotion, a painful, but necessary cleansing if one is ever to change. Sometimes it’s can be an ugly painful thing to do, but it is necessary. She advances into the water, still holding onto the scissors, but she us adapting, realising she needs to let go so she can move as the water moves. She sees how it flows pass her, it’s adaptability, it changing courses when something gets in the way. Instead of trying to remove the obstacles, she sees there is another way that’s more liberating, which is to do what the river is doing; a life source, a cleansing, refreshing, liberating; and she drops the scissors in the water as she has already dropped them in the room. Running to or from a problem is a choice. She’s made the choice of running to, letting the emotions free till they cover her. At this point, she can’t stop them from releasing. It’s her release. The song can be applied to any situation that causes a person to hurt, to feel trapped as if all they do is go in circles back to the same thing over and over again. To have the courage to feel the pain, to know the devastation, but deciding you can go past it if only you will let go and realise as you cannot change the flow if the river, you must find your own way to deal with it. That’s when you begin to heal.

Great reaction Dan. Yeah, this is my favourite Aurora album, too. It doesn't matter how many times I hear it, the experience is different every time. Both steps have incredible songs on them, but if you ever find yourself with enough time, listening to both, from Queendom all the way to Mothership is a real journey. As a body of work it has a real storyline to it. And by the time mothership ends, you feel a real sense of closure. Like the story has truly ended, and ended well. Can't wait for the new album!! And I have my tickets for Aurora Live in London in April!!! ps. have you heard Exist for love yet?

@@Luscent Cool. She's amazing live. it's almost a spiritual experience. I asked a friend to come with me. I sent him a text saying "do you want to see some Ethereal Norwegian Electro-folk-art-pop?' The reply was, "Yes, yes, like nothing i've ever wanted before!" Haha!

I love these album reactions! Fun little fact: song number 8 on every album is the most special one to her. (On The Gods We Can Touch it is Exhale Inhale, which is track 8 on the vinyl, but 9 on spotify because of the different track order. She stated in an interview it was Exhale Inhale and she goes by the vinyl one)

Many of her lyrics can be interpret differently. Also some are not so easy to interpret (of course it is easier if you know context). But it is also ok if everyone has own interpretation. But i love her lyric and many of them are also so poetic or imaginary/beautiful.

I read an interview with aurora talking about Soulless creatures, saying that she wrote it from mother earth's perspective, saying that we are ruining her, she's falling apart in daylight, even when she has given us all she has (both sides). So in saying "I wouldn't mind if I can't find anything to save our kind" the earth is really saying that she would be better off if we all just perished.... Not very uplifting, but serious food for thought!
