You're the first person I see reacting positively to Gold. It is one of my if not my favorite MARINA song and I see that so many people don't really understand it. It actually comes last in most Froot rankings, but I genuinely think that it is such a beautiful and calming song. Whenever I listen to it, I feel happy and I can imagine myself at a lonely beach with a sunset. The song gets even more beautiful once you understand the lyrics, being about MARINA feeling free by writing Froot after being so restrained in her choices in Electra Heart.

FROOT for me is one of Marina's best project, from visuals to theme and soundscape, its amazing start to finish. Savages is one of my favorite songs! I also love the Froot tour transitions between eras since the show was split into family jewels, electra heart and lastly, FROOT, they are uploaded to youtube by the artist that created them, they are amazing.

Honestly, respecting your opinion, but Froot is Marinas strongest album lyrically. L+F has SOME songs that are lyrically amazing, but there are a few songs in the album that aren’t her best work at all, such as: True, Superstar, Orange Trees. Regardless, he still should react to it!

Better Than That is *allegedley* about a fellow female singer from the UK (I won’t name names 👀), who may or may not have slept with her boyfriend around that time. There are a few lines that are direct references to said singers lyrics, and the “I’m passing judgement on the way you always stuck your knife in my back ever since we were starting out” bit. There’s countless threads about it on Reddit 😅🤷🏼‍♂️

I definitely think you should do Love + Fear, obviously it was divisive but I personally love it, as well as all of her other albums. Its definitely quite distinct from the rest of her work so keep that in mind if you do react to it.

24:35 the meaning of "Solitaire" is a single gem and the lyrics goes "Solitaire something you consider rare I don't wanna be compared with that cheap shimmer and glitter solitaire" so i think she means that she's rare because she's a gem which is rare and one of a kind, and she doesn't wanna be compared to cheap glitter. Oh and btw the card game Solitaire only requires one person.

I will literally play her full albums anytime I want to relax and sing my heart out, in fact had a great shower concert yesterday to Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, then dried my hair to Froot and took a relaxing trip down melancholy lane to a few Family Jewels and Electra Heart songs. please do love + fear. i’d even do a two part reaction if you’re up for it because she released those songs, one part as “love” and one part as “fear” until they were conjoined, several months apart i think. she wanted them to be separated and devoured before getting the whole story. it’s one of my favorite projects she has ever done because it feels more organic, raw, acoustic, and overall really genuine. would recommend 100% handmade heaven, orange trees, enjoy your life, to be human, too afraid, and soft to be strong. they are all big favorites. handmade heaven feels so nostalgic and ethereal it’s amazing.

LOVE AND FEAR is her most POP and somewhat “basic” album. It has songs that I feel like are fillers, but I feel like if I took 10-12 songs of the album and put it together, I could make one phenomenal album.

Completely self written masterpiece. IM A RUIN is a perfect pop song, playing with some experimental choices but still a smooth emotional pop experience. WEEDS is a fav too, though she really avoided that song after releasing it. I wish she performed it.

You should definitely react to L+F. My 2nd favorite after Froot. She took a few years off music after Froot because she felt like she didn't have that much inspiration or motivation to do art annymore and she went to college and studied psychology. She also got into a lot of different things during that time period until she got inspires to make L+F. Lots of fans found it "boring" because the production is the simplest, most "mainstream" it's ever been. But I find her lyricism and even the simple production fit it so well. It's an album about self discovery and her journey to knowing herself even more.

as a lyrics person, i looove the album love + fear, my favorite line is from the last song "soft to be strong" and it says " I choose to love you without fear", I love it because that close a feeling of feeling vulnerable and anxious about love, and start feeling free and ready to love in an emotionally responsible way, I really hope you could react to that amazing album, greetings, love your videos

Im a Ruin is probably my favorite Marina song ever 🙌. If you like Marina, i would highly recommend FKA Twigs, theyre friends and in the same UK alt-girl scene. Magdalen was AOTY 2019 along with NFR for me😍🙏

Savages is my all time favourite from the froot album! It’s just so true and down to earth, and I actually love her vocal range when she sings “is it running in our blood, the high and the low part is just perfection! And when she sings “you can watch it on TV” and there’s a slight shout when she says tv that sounds like a glitch is absolutely smart! :))) the lyrics “you can see it on the news, you could watch it on tv” hit different now because of covid 19 as it’s basically a reality, it always has been but for me personally it fits that, and all the worldwide drama , this song covers it, I am terribly sorry if I phrased anything wrong here , I am 14 and autistic and I don’t know how to express my emotions through text very well but I hope you can understand what I mean:)))))!!!

Wow I have so much to say haha bare with me. 1. You're absolutely right that her signature sound has a lot to do with her chord progressions, she uses major chords outside of the key a lot, like secondary dominants etc. Which is what makes her music sound a bit alternative, whilst still being very pop in the beats and production. 2. I think solitaire is just a metaphor for solitude since it's a card game you play alone. Playing her own game maybe. 3. I would love to hear a reaction on Love + Fear, I think you'd like it being a producer and also someone who pays attention to lyrics a lot. L+F is a bit softer than her other albums, less indie and angry which I think is why it wasn't received too well by the fans who didn't expect the new sound. But I think more people are starting to appreciate it, it's not my favourite album of hers but I think it's lyrically gorgeous and I love dancing to it. Would recommend to watch the video for the song To be Human if you listen to that, it's very beautiful and powerful.
