i have loved the Bee Gees since I was 10 years old, (54 years) I remember them from the radio my mom would play while we were getting ready for school in the morning. I remember brushing my teeth to "I've gotta get a message" Of course, I didn't know then who was singing but as the years went by I became very familiar with the music right through the disco years, which they totally owned, up to when Maurice died in 2004. Never have I heard any disrespectful or vulgar lyrics. I had no issue playing their music when my little granddaughter was listening. These men were able to capture and put words to the emotions that we mere mortals could only feel but could not express. Here is some trivia that you may find interesting as an artist yourself...none of the brothers could read or write music. I would call that a miracle, a pure God given gift!

I'm a fan of your reactions and love the respect you have for Bee Gees music -- for all the unique and memorable things they've brought to the music scene. I now own almost all of their albums ( Lp's and cd's), as well as much of their solo work. You can drop me on a desert island with unlimited power source to play their music and that would be all the music I need.

That's how it's done. Lyrics to die for. "Backwards and forwards with my heart hanging out" or "too many lovers ain't good for you" then "too many heartbreaks ain't good for me" Just too many great lines.

@@LizzieRD can I suggest a relatively unknown album track from 1976, “lovers”. Robin’s falsetto is really clear as he co-leads with Barry and I’m sure Maurice gets a line or two as well. Because Robin always watched the charts he knew Barry was the money maker, this is why Barry was front and centre for their Mega years. At one point the Bee Gees sales made up 2% of the music industry.

You are right on all points. There is no real talent anymore. Autotune for instance. Fake Live concerts where artists are lip synching. Sad. But even sadder is that today's artists get paid so much more for faking it than actual talents from the past earned in their time.
