You might expect an exceptionally talented 8 year kid to be able to imitate some of the great jazz singers. What we have with Angelina is an 8 year old kid who actually is a great jazz singer. Yes, the influences of past singers are surely apparent, but just like Summertime at 8 years old or Bohemian Rhapsody at 13, these versions are unmistakably Angelina taking the song just where she wants to go. Angelina really expresses the emotion here, in full jazz mode. You might find it a little strange that she looks a little unhappy at the end, she was still recovering from a heavy cold, and perhaps thought that she could have done a little better - even at this tender age Angelina was a perfectionist. Meanwhile everyone who hears this considers it to be a masterpiece....

Angelina obviously loved this Etta James classic as we have a video of her practicing it at age 7. For this performance she was near her 9th birthday. Angie was still suffering from a cold she caught performing at the Nobel Peace Prize outdoor ceremony singing "What a Wonderful World". You can hear the congestion in her voice but somehow Angie seems to turn it to her advantage. This concert was to benefit a charity so Angelina of course refused to back out of it.

Angelina has a way of becoming the song and then some how singing it like she owns it. Her uncanny way of using that voice, she has the ability to have people in rapt attention like the "Pied Piper", using her "pipes" making us follow along. What a gift my favorite singer. Angelina's interpretation of "At Last" is a thing of beauty. She takes her time with it, and paints all the perfect little decorations on every word. It's such a mature approach to the song. I don't know if there are any other 3rd graders in the world that have the patience and focus it takes to do what she did there. Her genius is undeniable.

I sometimes wonder what it was like to be one of her school classmates. I've seen a few videos of Angelina at school and it looks like it was a very nice friendly school, but she must have stood out as being very special.

Humble, in a way that makes her special regardless. And that is the way she wants it. Until she opens her mouth singing. Then we all know how incredibly special Angelina is. I bet the other kids and her friends also see it that way.

If you take my observations you will see that I also say exactly that. Her songs, the words are like a beautiful painting with many colors. That is why in one of these interventions I called her van Gohg of music !!!!. It is like watching the construction of a painting by van Gohg for every song she sings !!!!.

Saul, Merry Christmas! As difficult as it is to manage and prepare for, we know that Angelina is going to astound us at almost every turn. She walks and sings arm-in-arm (and pretty much note for note) with whichever vocal icon she wishes, past or present, matching them at every turn. She does the ridiculously unbelievable on Mon/Wed/Fridays and saves the impossible for Tues/Thurs/Saturdays! What a treat and treasure she is!

Her jazz is the best. She has had etta james records all her life, and when she sings etta james its mind bending. And this isnt a studio recording, shes just getting up in front of an audience and singing

This concert was for a children’s charity, her doctor and family advised her not to go, and sing, as she was very ill. AJ said she had made a promise, and in spite of her stuffy nose, this soulful, compassionate little girl, kept her promise.

Well, she has recorded a "Live in studio" recording of it & it's the first time we've seen her sing in over a year since she recorded her AGT-C performances in Oct 2019. I would rather call them a bag of techniques. A bag of tricks feels like she is trying to deceive us in someway. And there is no deception or guile in this young lady. I don't know if you have wondered at her ability to control and change her vibrato at the drop of a hat or not. But at that age to have any vibrato not usual, then add to that that she can take this vibrato and dial in the frequency of it such as, when she sang 'Summertime' in Norway's Got Talent which was broad and slow, to soft barely there vibrato of the Billie Holiday songs to this. You have vastly more experienced singers that can't even come close to that control. This is also when she started listening to Amy W. You could hear her use of vocal fry that was Amy's calling card.The other thing is Angelina always finishes her phrases. Singers her age sometimes have problems with breath control. That is never an issue with Angelina. It is fun going back and seeing stuff I missed in the first 50 go-arounds. I'll bet you could come back in 50 years and find stuff you missed. I won't I'll be worm food, but those of you who are younger will. Well Soul baby, I'm off to my next singer. Please go and listen to Daneliya's latest offerings, she has gotten so good. I know you used to listen to her. But the last thing you listened to was 'RiseUp' when she was 10. She's 14 now and she is good. You haven't even checked her AGT 2020 where she was a finalist. Then was robbed just like Angelina did in her appearance.So even if you don't react just listen you won't be wasting your time.

angelina absolutely loves this song. angelina sang this song at a charity with an orchestra. the rehearsal was absolutely the most frustated angie has ever been on stage as she was trying to convey to conductor to slow it down...kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIbClZV7eNSSa8k.... her dedication is unreal....these so called superstars today would have walked out and cancelled gig...thanks...

I agree with the "frustrating" rating. I disliked that version and don't care much for her performance on this one. She has this sabre-like quality, an edge to her voice, that she often slices thru everything else but, here, it's like she's holding back, not trusting the accompaniment. Or, perhaps as noted elsewhere, she's under the weather a bit and doesn't feel comfortable with pressing her own edges (I was going to write "limits" but - hah - I think most of us don't think of AJ and "limits"). ("Sabre-like quality" - as in her IT'S A MAN'S WORLD opening lines. Completely slicing thru every instrument AND expectation. It's not 'shrill' but like a sabre.)
