I'm 66 now gone back in time to 1968 maybe when I did this with an old wooden cotton reel with nails in it I had no trouble doing it then but could I get it started nope but then it just clicked! Crazy world we live in....I literally lost myself doing it no TV on and two hrs disappeared 😅

Yeah I did it with nails and a cotton reel as a child, it’s amazing once you remember how it’s so easy to get lost in doing it and end up with a mile long piece 😁

I eventually used one of my hooks to get it done, it is a lot more easy (3 mm) thank you for this video and for the great advice :)

Yes I prefer hooks or the L shaped hook that comes with knitting looms the sticks really are not very good. I am glad to help, any questions please do ask :) Good luck with what ever your making.

I grew up using spools with nails. I don`t know whose idea it was to replace them with "loops", but I`m definitely not a fan. It`s so much easier with nails (or posts), and it`s definitely much more secure. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? BTW, in my day, we called it corking. :)

I remember building them as a kid the same way. It was definitely easier with them. I guess it’s a health and safety thing now.

l have so much spare wool, I mean lots so I use the dolly to make strands and knitted a use a pair of huge knitting needles and made a throw. Now I have family members calling me. Lol

That's a shame. Some sets are really not good, you should get enough to do a whole project I think. I hope you can get some yarn to make something nice.

I don't have any other videos on using a knitting Nancy though plan on doing a better one soon. This was made before I had a good camera so is not the best but it shows a good base to get started I hope.

I've never used a stick or whatever it is you're using, i find using a fine (us 14/uk6) crochet hook is easier.

I do as well. I only used the stick as that was what came with it so wanted to try and show how that would work. Personally I think the stick is useless and I would never recommend it.

So this is basically loom knitting with a tiny loom?

Yes basically:). This makes an icord:). It's what a lot of children were given when I was young and when my mum was young so its been around a long time. Not sure how long the bigger knitting looms have been about but I had a knitting nancy as a kid so loved the bigger ones when I found them :).

You can use any yarn/wool. Your local craft shop or charity shop should have some you can use.

Yes definitely it's whatever you feel comfortable using.

I am sorry you had trouble with the audio, it seems to be temperamental as some have no problem (myself included) but others find the volume low for some reason 😞 I don’t have a fix for it so if you are stuck on something let me know and I can try and help.

KZbin has a speed control setting :). Just select a slower play speed in the options and you can play it more to you liking. :).

I am sorry you struggle to understand how to do this but I do say what to do if you listen. Just watching the video is all that is needed as the process is just repeating the second step until you have the desired length. Plenty of people have found the video useful but not everyone learns the same so maybe go and find someone who teaches you in a way you find more suitable. Everyone learns differently and just because my way is not suitable for you does not mean it is wrong.
