Just grabbed a demo of the SG and this is a very interesting use case that I can apply immediately. Thanks Matt!

I got this at the intro price and I'm impressed both by its utilitarian use, as demonstrated in this video, and the creative possibilities it offers too.

I can see myself getting this…seems very helpful and could help me learn about gating (just like the smart eq, limiter, and reverb taught me). I’m just not in a rush since I don’t have a need for a gate-yet lol.

Who in the hell left the gate open? That's probably where all those ghost notes came from. (if Ghostbusters has taught us anything) I'll check the demo when I make sm'art to try it out on.

That is a very clever gate and an excellent demo of it's abilities. My only caveat is that jazz drummers, and jazz band leaders would not want those ghost notes anywhere near that loud. Now, if it were a jazz funk or fusion setting, game on. But straight ahead jazz - you'd be bordering on getting fired 🙂

As an alternative for managing snare bleed while retaining it’s character, I urge you to try putting on FabFilter Saturn, turning on a second band (about 1kHz and above, but change to taste) and turning down the “dynamics” dial. Works similar to doing the same thing with a multi-band compressor, but tend to sound more natural to my ears. 🙂
